Hey all,
We started messing around with Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb". I hope that we changed it up enough so it sounds like us. I usually only sing BV but this time I sang lead. Afterall, it is one of my favorite songs.
I've posted the latest version in my profile.
Cheers,
Lonnie

Sep 28, 2007 07:03 am Dude this is fantastic!
One of the best songs ever and you have certainly done it some major justice!
Seems to me you should give up the BV and head up front :)
Really enjoyed this mate.

Sep 28, 2007 11:37 am Cheers guys! I really needed the confidence boost. I only just started singing lead stuff recently. I will probably be singing lead on some of our new tunes but we'll have to see.
Sep 28, 2007 11:46 am Ha, that was a lot of fun! Really enjoyed the vocals too. Great job...

Sep 29, 2007 03:45 pm I assume this is still the second mix in your profile then? IF not I gotta go listen later.

Sep 29, 2007 06:41 pm Nicely done. I'll have to give it a listen later on some proper speakers, right now I'm listening on crappy computer speakers, so I'll save the crticism until I can get a better listen ;)

Sep 30, 2007 02:15 am The uploaded version is the one to put this to rest. Time to get back to our own stuff again. I like doing covers once in a while though. It is a good exercise.
Sep 30, 2007 02:27 am By the way BH, thanks for bumping my cut off the number one spot on the front page. Really. I was starting to get a little embarrassed.
Sep 30, 2007 05:51 am Agreed on the above comments my man...tis a good version of a great song which spookily enough, I was gonna do something with some time soon...darn good version in fact.
Vocals are great too Lonnie...keep it man,
Coco

Oct 02, 2007 11:10 am Loved it, great job. Maybe it's my speakers (Klipsch) but the vocals were more up front than I would have chosen...the guitar was super clean and sweet. I didn't like the upper bass notes, they were a bit too bright on the attack. But I only use digital basses, so I am no judge. :) Definitely the best Pink Floyd cover I have heard.

Oct 02, 2007 01:20 pm Thanks all. Srisso, not too much time was spent mixing on this. All of it was tracked in one evening and it was really just a practice excercise. We mostly write our own stuff and feel that once we reach a certain point with a cover like this, we will simply shelf it. Admittedly there are a lot of mistakes on this cover but we feel our efforts are better spent on working on our own tunes rather than polishing this one. Our time is much too limited. I guess is the main problem. So much to do, so little time.
