This maybe a stupid question but it here it goes.........
I just started reading up on arranging and orchestration, and was curious about the rhythm section. Say ive got a 4 bar chord progression with the piano playing
G maj, E maj, G maj, E maj
Could I have a rhythm guitar playin under that the same progression such as (slash notation)
G maj, E maj, G maj, E maj
/// , // /, ////, / //
Hope that makes sense. Thanks for your time.

Sep 27, 2007 06:50 pm I have no idea what that means :(
Can't you just record it and find out how it sounds?
Sep 27, 2007 08:09 pm Let me to try to rephrase it. Is it cool to have a rhythm guitar providing the chordal accompaniment and rhythm while having a piano playing only chordal accompaniment?
Sep 27, 2007 08:59 pm Sure! Best to work out something rhythmically complimentary...

Sep 27, 2007 09:16 pm with my 5 seconds experience with slash notation... yes...
but I'm a drummer and reading that as 4 measures of 4/4 with the spaces being quarter rests...
but for some reason I want to play:
/// ,// /,////,/ /
am I even remotely interpreting slash notation right? :)
thats:
123-,12-4,1234,1--4
Sep 27, 2007 09:28 pm good lookin out. Thank you.
Sep 27, 2007 09:30 pm Yo Zek, still learning slash notation too, but yeah thats the way I take it. Grabbed it out of a book I was reading.
