Nov 30, 1999 12:00 am Don't know, don't know. Just have to wait and see I guess. Me sees the synergy. Just don't know enough about the personality of pinnical. Any relation to the speaker? Now there's a product!
Jan 29, 2003 07:23 am Nope, Pinnacle is a company that makes Video capture and editing hardware and software. I own one of their capture cards and actually it is very nice. Their software I think is more aimed at the home user based on it's look, features and feel, but that may be the version I have...I dunno.
Could make for a very interesting business model having a great audio company as well.
Jan 29, 2003 10:09 am hmm... what does a merger like this usually do for product prices?

Jan 29, 2003 10:10 am I didn't think they made the speakers as well but I was hoping, I guess. From their press release and a web site I did not get a flavor of their target market. Now your info basicly home entertainment, I really wonder what the plan is. I hope the plan is to move into or add "industrial" applictions all around. It took Cubase a bit of time to become a serious contender as was. I remember the spectical reviews siteing studios that used "ONLY" Cubase with big infered question marks throughout the text. The spectrum of software and equipment out ther for us is huge and ripe for triming. A few well placed stretegic alliances and company could do very well.
Oops Sorry Jamie, I was writing when you came in. It will increase production costs. Even the best mergers and or buy outs are surrounded with skepticisim for the employee (change) and productivity will decrease. Also administrative costs will increase as everybody adjusts. As to how that will effect street prices? That depends on the plan. Their plan. If Pinnicle is doing well and wants into the new game long term prices will probably be stable or even go down. If Pinnnicle is fixated on their current market and just need a cash cow to push that market, hard to say. May very well go up. The hidden cost to the consumer depends on how well they will "feed" their new line. If it's a cash cow look for few improvements and poor service. If it's a new direction service and R&D could be better. Support of Cubase will be the first indicator.

Jan 29, 2003 09:24 pm They do also get into audio card's as well. They had card's such as the Tahiti which I actually used for a while, along with several other exotic name's of their card's.
Jan 30, 2003 08:30 am hmm... i smell an audio "package" coming on w/ soundcard, multitracker and mastering app all-in-one.
