Need a recommend for a PCI or PCI-16 sound card. Needs to have at least one port of MIDI, would like 2, needs to be minimum 24/96 and stereo minimum, would like 4 in 4 out or more. Running XP Pro on a 3.2 GHz PIV, 4G ram. I have 2 open PCI slots and 1 PCI-16.

The MAudio Audiophile 2496 has 4 in 4 out and MIDI. I had problems with one of these once before and it's really kind of cheap. I'm thinking in the $300-$500 range...

Terratec PHASE 88 looks good, 8x8 audio, 1 midi about $370...

The Frontier Design Dakota card looks good. 24 channels and 2x2 midi for about $400. I like a little overkill... but it doesn't do 96KHz...48KHz max, do I need 96KHz?

The Echo Layla3G is just onder $500 and has more than my minimum.

Suggestions? I hate driver problems...
Thanks in advance!

Hey dude, good to see ya.

I am a bit busy for the moment but I'll try and pop something up later this weekend.

I'm using all ESI stuff other then an older M-Auiod Delta 4 that still just keeps ticking away on the older surf box.

Good to see ya too! No rush, I'm building up new computer, something I've needed to do for a long time.

good to see you man, sorry to hear that you had a bad deal with M-audio. I have nothing but good to say about there stuff and would suggest the 1010 (not the 1010lt) , but ESI like Noize said makes some quality stuff here's dB's review www.homerecordingconnecti...tory&id=443
