Last piece of the puzzle...

After taking six weeks to recover financially from buying all my recording gear at once, I was able to purchase the final (for now) piece to make it complete. UPS just delivered Sonar 6 Home XL. Compared to the regular home version, it's more than double the size. And it has almost everything the studio and producer version has, just a lot less instruments basically.

Now, to learn how to use all its stuff....

Soon, you guys are gonna' have to listen to some home brewed tunes from some ole' fogey...

You're in big trouble now son.

IT sounds as if they will announce the release on Monday. I just got a hint email from Scott Garrigus that eluded to it. Sounds like they are going to be including some more killer pluggins and a couple more synths, one of which is huge I guess. I've got to flip a coin. I was just going to order NI's B4 organ pluggin as well.

As for Sonar 7, it sounds as if this is the step beyond and it will now be something that even more studios will be looking at as an alternative to PT. Even a few PT snobs have come out of the closet suggesting they are ready to take the leap and jump off the Digi ship. We shall see. I'll be ordering it upon the announcement. I'm sure it will not be shipping though for several weeks.

Glen, glad you got the upgrade. You'll enjoy it for sure.

I'm not too torn up over v.7 release. I bought it because it seemed to have everything I needed and a lot more, and the price couldn't be beat. I'll probably use v.6 until v.8 comes out.

There sure is a LOT to learn in Sonar.
Hell, there's a wave for every different type strike on 8 different cymbal sizes. IE: hi-velocity stick, lo-vel stick, padded beater hi and lo vel, brush strike, brush swish, roll single, roll double for every cymbal, tom, snare, etc. 1.5 Gb of instrument waves alone. 11 amp models, Boost 11 peak limiter, Dimension Synth, Garritan Orchestra, and Session Drummer. Cakewalk Publisher, 17 effects, music notation and tab generator, on and on and on....

Yep, no one else packs the kind of goodies Cakewalk packs into their software. I think they realize that the more good stuff they give a customer, the less he will have to look elsewhere and that hopefully will keep them coming back.

I know I have bought every upgrade from ground zero, at the very beginning. And have purchased and faithfully upgraded a few of their other bits as well.

And the tutorials are great, too. There's more help files than you can shake an SM-57 at, and a printed manual that puts Windows XP's book to shame. Online help and support, online videos,

Who do they think they are, Hertz?

I'm sold, can't you tell?

Glad to have you on the Cakewalk bandwagon then for sure. I know I have tried all the others but always came back. Now there is really no need for me to own the other stuff as I can import and export to work in just about any of the others. And there has always been the work around for that anyway.

But indeed, their tutorials, manuals and even tech support are very good and well above most of the others.
