You all are helpful and friendly. I found Home Recording dot com BBS to be a tad cold. There's some helpful people there, but there's too many people that don't want to be bothered helping out a newbie, even if it's in the Newbie forum. They leave little snide comments anonymously, which is poultry poop.

I'm staying here with you fine people.

Thanks Swappo, I always like hearing good stuff like this. Newbie or veteran engineer or anywhere in between, everybody can learn and teach...that's what HRC is all about.

Glad to have you around, welcome aboard.

You've landed at the right place.

The mods here are very strict when it comes to being respectful. This is a good thing.

Everyone here is extremely helpful and have likely experienced - or know someone who has experienced - anything you are likely to come across. If not, people will actually research stuff for you in certain instances (but that doesn't preclude you from doing some research yourself...).

I've stuck around here for a couple of years plus now (sorry chaps). There's no other forum like it - well, there weren't last time I checked....which was a couple of years ago! :)

This is all a learning experience, and we can all learn something new.

Other forums I saw seemed to be populated with holier-than-thou types who were so obviously born in the control room of Studio 2, Abbey Road with a Neumann up their a$$. Yes, they are supreme recording experts, and you are an annoying mere mortal who should just 'read the manual' and stop bothering them. S'funny how they actually go on forums. You'd think they know it all anyway.

Ya, I'm bum. dB hasn't sent me my five year pin yet. I don't suppose I'll get a gold watch after 20 either.

It's a great forum because it is populated with great people. And yes less than great people do have a tendency to go away. I yikes it!

Blahahahaha. That's my buddy dB. That's definately the old school that I'm used to. In the military my staff sargent pitched a hat at me and chewed my *** for loosing it. I was dumbfounded, as I had not lost a hat to my knowledge. I finaly looked at the thing and saw it had the insignia for the next rank on it. I held it up, pointing at the insignia and exclaimed "this isn't my hat!" He simply said "yes it is" and walked of laughing. I had been promoted.

That hat thing is funny...that's actually very funny picturing the scene and the "huh?" look that was likely on your face.

I really miss that. I never adjusted to the pomp and circumstance, touchy feely, aproach to many things these days. Doesn't do a thing for my motivation.

Though some might not know it this forum has been around awhile longer then the 5 years it shows. And a few of the members who are still here, including dB, flame myself and a bunch of others were around well before that.

To think this started as an experiment for dB as he was learning to code to build forums and the like. In the beginning it was only dB and myself answering questions and doing all the research. Soon it blossomed and got way bigger then either of us ever thought it would. Which now as you can see was a good thing.

HRC in the form you now see with a small crew of dedicated mods and admins is here because the members made it be here. No small part due to dB's masterful skills mind you though.

So lets all give a round of virtual applause

http://i.pbase.com/o4/97/388497/1/64021719.CHPTbjAb.applause.gif

to the deebz for building such an outstanding place to have such an outstanding bunch of people gather to share their wealth of information.

yada yada yada...yeah, I rock, whatever.

It's the members that deserve the applause, without all you guys my little chunk of code would be worthless...

I have an enjoyable time here, and probably spend an inordinate amount of time on the site (don't tell my employer).

Thanks for putting up with my smart ***, you guys....

I think it's pretty cool that people do stick around. There are many names just in this thread that have been around since I started (Herb is relatively recent, it just seems longer..hahahaha ), and I know I can depend on all of you for a great answer when I have problems..or for moral support when I just have to have a whine...or to sheer me up with the snippets of humour that come into 'Talking Smack'
(Geeeez this got gushy all of a sudden..)

Hats of to bee....I mean the mods and admins for keeping this forum cool.

Where are Walters and Bytch Killa in this love fest?
