Yeah, what you have right now is a "premaster"...the stereo mix of your recordings.

Now "mastering" starts...mastering is harmonically balancing all the music, meaning there are not huge peaks and valleys in the frequency spectrum (which is what makes things sound great on one set of speakers and crappy on another. I talk about that a little bit here covering my favorite application for mastering, Har-Bal www.homerecordingconnecti...tory&id=463

You want all tracks that will be on the same compilation to be the same perceived volume so the listener isn't turning up and down from track to track and you want them to sound like they belong on the same disk...set the gaps between songs and all the final touches before replication.

db master or anyone else

im gonna need to get some cds duplicated pretty soon

i think the color inserts and all that good stuff is a must

i was thinking about just going with one of guitarcenters deals. Before i did this i was wondering if anyone knew a site that does it at a good price so i could compare and what not.

This looks like a cool tool, but I have a question. I take your point about different speaker systems, but the only sound with equal frequency content throughout the audio range is pink noise - is there any reason why I should want my music to sound like that?

What looks like a cool tool? And what exactly are you asking about it? I'm a bit confused by your explanation.
