my friend is putting the finishing touches on a movie he wants to submit to festivals. there are mic booms, booming, in it. the mic gets bumped during interviews, you know.
best way to get rid of 'em is to roll off below like 100 hz, right? or sweep a parametric to find the offending frequency?
so does anyone know if there's a parametric eq plugin (freeware if possible) that can be integrated into final cut? i know nothing about that program and don't even know if it uses third party plugins.

and FCP should already come with an EQ
Aug 01, 2007 04:00 pm it is while people are talking, and he won't want to make the background ambience dip noticeably. i'm sure he does have an EQ in there, but i'm not sure if it's parametric, because he told me he's only 'used the three sliders.' then again, maybe he didn't know what a parametric was. that's what i'll ask him later. he probably saw it and didnt know how to use it

The issue is going to be getting it to do what he wants it to. Handling noise isn't just low frequency...yeah it has the low rumble but it's going to run the entire spectrum.
Cutting everything below 100-300hz will get a lot of it but it'll still be there.
hopefully the ambiance will mask it.
