any comments on the SAMSON S-Com Stereo Compressor/Limiter for a small FOH rack?
never heard of it before, but I can get one for dirt cheap and almost new.(I guess there's a reason why)
Would it be more of a waste of time or it's half decent?
Would use it for press conferences, mostly for speach, so need to be low noise!!

Jul 29, 2007 08:37 pm nah, cheap compressors and limiters are fine for live applications....but you gotta baby it and not throw it around or it will die....good live audio stuff is built more like a tank than a pretty sounding one.

Jul 29, 2007 08:45 pm it will sit in a gator case, I just don't want another piece of gear that doesn't do what it is supposed to do.
How's the quality? I just can't find any reviews on that unit

Jul 31, 2007 08:40 pm I would actually look into either a dbx or Behringer unit personally. I'm not a huge Samson fan at all when it comes to gear like that.

Jul 31, 2007 11:58 pm I got the T1953 I agree on that Noize2u, even for $50, better save it to get something better.
Sep 27, 2007 10:57 am I use the S-Com, it's very respectable. Samson really took some time to develop some nice equipment in their 'blue' line of products.
I run one next to 2 DBX of a comperable nature... I actually prefer the samson to the DBX166XL.
I'm not a fan of the Behringer Compressors/Effects/Tube Pres etc...I feel they sometimes cut a few too many corners to make the product ultra cheap.
If you can get it cheap, go for it. If you don't buy it, I'd be interested in adding another S-com to the ole rack.
