Here's a link I found over on Audiominds:

It's about installing things that make your XP PC more 'Vista' like. (if that's what you want).
I may do a couple on my home PC (not my recording one).

Jul 24, 2007 01:45 pm kinda cool stuff there
Jul 24, 2007 01:46 pm Man, the "peel-down" ads on that site are some of the most annoying I've ever seen.

Jul 24, 2007 02:13 pm hm, i didn't see any of that, though someone on AM said the ads were very thick. Maybe Firefox doesn't see them as much ?
Jul 24, 2007 02:59 pm I'm on Firefox. You don't see them until you hit the internal links.
Jul 24, 2007 03:07 pm Oh jeezuz, I had a company try to talk me into putting those same ads on HRC a while back...not a chance in hell...
I probably won't touch Vista until Windows 7 is released...which means I'll be behind again...
Jul 24, 2007 05:08 pm I just now (like seconds ago) turned down an offer from a company to run ads that bounce around, flash colors and tell you that "you are the 10,000th visitor and have won!"...man, I hate those things and I would hate to think I put somebody into a seizure by running them...
I just don't understand some online marketing schemes...I mean, I am a fan of advertising, I find it interesting behavioral analysis and stuff, but come on...what every happened to "targeted marketing"...not just "throw the most obnoxious thing at everybody on earth"...

Jul 24, 2007 05:18 pm Yeah. Go to Intellicast.com for some of the more obnoxious ads from LowerMyBills.com. Every one of them is some animated person or thing dancing, or a candid video of somebody walking into a room a surprising somebody...just stupid all the way around.
And thanks for keeping the site popup free. Ads are one thing, but popups are the bane of the internet.
Jul 24, 2007 09:42 pm Dude, you might be surprised to know how many advertisement offers I turn down on a monthly basis. I dunno what threshold I crossed to get on everybody's radar, but ti seems like everybody and their dog whats me to popup, popunder, peel away or animate the **** out of our site for the sake of a buck or two.
Now, I am the very first to know HRC has a budget to keep, but there are certain lines I just will not cross in the name of an almighty dollar...as soon as it affects user experience to that degree, it's not making it here...

Jul 25, 2007 09:22 am A huge thanks from this peep too! I don't know about how others react behaviorly to all of the barage advertising but my initial reactions are: scam, faulty, trap, virus, nothing good inside! Any entity that stoops to that kind of marketing strategy has big problems running through it's veins.
The other dead give away is the frequency of the add. When I saw the motor companies run constant adds on their SUV's I knew their next quarter was toast. When a band on HeadSpace sends out three bulitins a day on the Huge Event it isn't because all of the tickets are sold. Guranteed Huge flop!
Jul 25, 2007 09:28 am Yeah, me too. When I get on a site and the first thing I see is some popup add telling me I am the 1 millionth visitor and "I won" or something that bounces around and flashes color I just get pissed.

Jul 25, 2007 09:42 am Amen! Big bouncing, flashing sign saying: "Welcome, This Site Is F'd-Up!"
