Jul 23, 2007 11:41 pm Cool find! Somebody has got to upload pictures of the waveform from Rush's "Fly By Night" and then a waveform from their Vapor Trails album. It's incredible.

Jul 23, 2007 11:44 pm Very interesting. Sorry to be redundant as I have mentioned this before, but it reminds me of when the auto industry first started putting in sound systems with full range final amps resulting in no distortion. People complained like crazy that the music was not loud enough! The industry went back to final amps that would distort. There was no difference in the actual dB levels of the output. Quite frankly, when I produce a song that I like and want to listen to again, I will make myself a copy without smashing the hell out of it and give the mashed copy to the artist that wants LOUD! In a band I just dumped the guitar player just loved his distortion, to the point where it would drive people out of the bar. He wasn't a bad player and most of the time didn't really need the distortion to hide his lack of ability.
I guess some people just like that sound. It's all good by me as long as I don't have to listen to it.
