Anybody can recommend a good boom mic I will be using it for onsite recording short film, documentaries etc...
I want to spend between $175 and $200 (ebay price ;)
I have a Behringer 1622 and planning to get a Ultra Q T1951 to warm up the sound and to cut off room noise .
Thanks

The absolute minimum I can recommend is a Rode NTG1

$190 is a decent price
I use a Sennheiser ME66K6 and like it an awful lot...

usually goes for $350-$500.
I'm assuming you're recording this to a computer... in which case I would STRONGLY suggest ditching the behringer stuff and get an Edirol FA-66... ... the thing has built in preamps and limiters and is VERY quiet... you also only need one preamp channel. An M-box would work too and is even less expensive I think...
Jul 21, 2007 08:39 pm I too can recommend a Rode. I have an NTG 2 and have been super stoked on it. The NTG 2 can also take a AA battery, so if you're using it in the field, you don't necessarilly have to worry about having phantom power available.

Jul 21, 2007 11:36 pm K thanks I will have a look I have an FA-66. I find having a mixer very helpfull as I can insert any outboard gear mostly parametric Q and have different mixes, like I sometimes Y the mic, chanel 1 with EQ and chanel 2 dry. then I can use the best of the 2.
