A couple people have stated a problem with the uploader. If it gives you an "invalid file type" kind of error, please, post here and give your bitrate and the application you encoded the mp3 with.
Thanks.

Jul 14, 2007 03:05 pm I don't have any trouble with uploading new songs, just replacing existing ones. The last attempt was at 128, but it's failed at 192 as well. Adobe Audition 1.5.
Jul 14, 2007 03:41 pm Did you check the checkbox that indicates it is supposed to replace the existing file?
Jul 14, 2007 04:00 pm Yessir.
Jul 14, 2007 04:32 pm weird, they both work great for me, you must have some weird-*** MIME settings on your computer browser...have you tried different browsers or anything?
Jul 14, 2007 05:24 pm Same result with both Mozilla and IE on both of my computers. Maybe we could ask a fellow member or two to try replacing one of their songs with the same file - perhaps slightly renamed or something - and see if it's not just me?
Jul 14, 2007 06:18 pm OK, the error message will now report the extention being parsed and the MIME type that is detected, please, when time permits, copy and paste the error message here.

Jul 14, 2007 06:41 pm I got it too... first time upload
"Any uploaded file must be a valid mp3 encoded file.
may be an invalid MIME type or mp3 may be an invalid extention."
128kbps mp3 exported out of audacity using the LAME encoder... on linux obviously :)
uploaded with firefox 2.0.0.4
Jul 14, 2007 06:50 pm Same message here. Funny. To me, all mime types are invalid.
A little humor there.. eh.
Jul 14, 2007 06:58 pm the mime type should be shown before the word "may"...it isn't reporting a MIME at all...
It should say something like "audio/mp3" may not be a valid MIME type...of course "audio/mp3" is the exact MIME I am expecting, the mime you report should be something of that format...images are things like "image/gif", "image/jpg" etc...

Jul 14, 2007 07:25 pm any way to check if it's actually getting uploaded?
most famous mime joke:
"If a tree falls in the woods and lands on a Mime... does anybody care?"
Jul 14, 2007 07:40 pm I thought maybe it was uploading anyway, but I checked and it's still the old version up there.
Jul 14, 2007 07:54 pm oh, yeah, they are uploading, that I know, the MIME issue is usually a browser setting thing, I think I'll look into that a bit more tonight, cuz I added the same thing to image uploading...I have got to start securing uploads...anyone can change an extention to "mp3" and it could be anything...I need better validation for securities sake...
