Guitar Jim, July 4th Cutaways Gig?

My wife, kids and myself are considering driving to your show in Menomonie on July 4th at noon. Where in the town is the festival at. We will be taking 94 east all the way to town, that part is easy, when I get into town is when I'll be lost, having not been to Menomonie (though enjoy saying the name) in about, oh, 25 years or so.

Any tips and tricks to find you there? Big festival? Admission fee? Food and drink fees of course...

Wow..that would be cool! We're playing from noon until 2:30. We're at Wakanda Park in Menomonie. Get off I-94 at exit 41 (Hwy 25). Turn right (south) onto Hwy. 25. Go a few blocks, past K-mart, and Perkins until you come to Pine Street. (Taco John's on your left.) Turn left onto Pine Street and this leads you right into the park. It might cost a buck a person to get in...

It's not a humongous festival, but there's stuff for the kids to do and plenty to eat/drink. Hopefully some good music!

I'm honored that your considering coming over! If you do decide to come, make sure to stop and say hello!

Jim

I'd be coming as well but I have to deal with pops in law.

It sounds like we'll be coming. I'll be wearing an HRC t-shirt if I can find it, otherwise some t-shirt with some sort of violent martial arts fighting message on it. I'll look you up for sure.

Hujambo, yeah, I know where the city is, and likely could have found the festival as well, but depending on the size of the festival, may have had a hard time finding the stage, or, the right stage as some have many...

That said, sounds small and fun. We are likely going unless the kids have a meltdown or something...our youngest is being a pill lately...so anything is possible. :-) If we do, we will surely stop by, as the Cutaways are the reason we are going at all...

I told my oldest to be sure and call Jim a cheesehead before we leave, she said "that would be rude"...I dunno who's kid she is, but she ain't mine. :-D

Again...I would be honored to be called a cheeshead by one of your kids!

Oh yeah, and I would be remiss if I didn't tell you to bring the swimming suits as there is a waterpark (or the small town version of a waterpark) on site as well. Great for kids...

Oh, that's good to know. Thanks for the heads up...still planning on coming out so should see you there. Do you have any set breaks or are you playing right through? 2:30 hours is a long time, but I've done it before...I hope you get breaks...

Good luck Jim! I wish I was able to attend something like this. I guess that is a drawback to living 2,000 frickin' miles away.

I do get down to the Seattle area a few times a year. Anyone gigging in the Washington state area?

Have a good time at the show dB!

We're planning on taking a break halfway through, or so, for stage announcements and so that I can empty my 44 year-old bladder.

Thanks...

This really is a fun gig. We've done it for the past four or five years...for as long as The Cutaways have been together. It's just a typical family-oriented small town 4th of July celebration (without the parade.) It will be doubly great to possibly have a fellow HRC-er there as well!

Still planning on it, I am supposed to go see Geoff tonight at Noize's house, but things got all goofed up and I haven't heard from either of 'em...now I am two screwdrivers into the night so I dunno...

Well heard from dB that it was great fun and the Cutaways was rockin!

We all did get together last night after I spent several hours waiting and couple more giving a statement to a detective last night. But Tuna and I got there some time before 9 and dB was already there. Funny enough they let Tuna in without even questioning for ID or anything. Not sure I like that, but hey its all good. A few drink later and we parted ways. Too bad though that things got a little mucked up, it would have been great to do a BBQ or something this time for Geoff and Jen, but maybe next time.

I think coolo is coming shortly as well, hopefully both dB and myself may have issues straightened away by then.

Let me know when he comes and I'll see if I can make the journey over there.

I'm flying in to MN this Sat the 7th. Can be available during the day on the 7th or the 14th (my flight out leaves at 9pm). It'd be cool to do a barbq on the 14th...I'm just saying...!

That'd be awesome if you could both be here...the 7th is the "family party" for my kids b-days (3 days apart) then the "night of destruction" at our local racetrack in the evening watching monster trucks, car jumps, school bus "races" (read: "smashup") on the figure 8 track and all that stuff with my oldest, neice, bro-in-law and Noize and his kids. It's gonna rock.

Yep, the 14th would work the best here as well. And hell ya on the Eve of Destruction. Don't forget about Guilty by Association motocross freestyel team. Tuna should introduce the girls to JJ and the lot. You have to talk him into wearing his pink Guilty Girls sweatshirt that he got from them.

But ya, the mayhem is the best part of the night.

So the 14th would work out splendid.

And Jim, you really thinking of coming out this way?

I still need to clear it with the "boss", but there's nothing on the calendar at this point. If there's going to be a get together with you and dB and Coolo I'm sure as heck gonna make an effort to be there! Heck, I still need to personally thank Coolo for his drunken vocals on "Hats Off to Beer".

Maybe we could all drink and make an HRC remix of it :-)

Does that mean I am going to have to clean up in here?
