there was a brief discussion on this very thing on the radio the other day...and if you give it a week to air dry (and i would assume no soap)...and it'll more than likely still work...

this guy breaks it down to an extreme level (i'd just buy a new one)

the radio host did it and she said it worked...kind wierd huh!

Jun 18, 2007 06:17 am when i used to work for a phone shop, we used to have no end of people come in with damaged mobile (cell) phones that they'd spilled drinks on, dropped in water etc etc etc.
sticking them somewhere to dry out seemed to have about a 50% success rate on average i'd say.
in conclusion, dont get your gear wet, unless you got 2 of everything!

Jun 18, 2007 10:29 pm Flame, do ya remember when I dumped a can of Coke a Cola in my old desk? And after a complete panic and dis-assemble and cleaning it ended up working better then it had in a few years. But I agree about most electronic gadgets not liking a good soaking. Tuna found out the hard way after dumping his cell in the toilet.
Jun 18, 2007 10:36 pm didn't SNL do a skit like that way back when called "The Pepsi Syndrome"? 7up wouldn't damage it tho, because it's an un-cola?
Man, nothing beats the not ready for prime time players.
Jun 19, 2007 12:01 am yeah i wouldn't throw anything with an internal battery and processors, and a screen....but a keyboard is quite simpler (internal electronics wise)....and as a proud pc owner, i've got several keyboards layin' around...i think i'm gonna try this on one.

Jun 19, 2007 08:12 pm Coke, or any other carbonated drink, usually contains sodium also. This is a good cleaner but can be corrosive if not rinsed thoroughly. Also, the sticky thing doesn't apply to diet drinks.
When my digital touchpads or keyboards go south I use a mixture of 75% distilled water and 25% rubbing alcohol. It cleans AND evaporates in less than a minute. Great for removing sticky soft drinks.
