zoom mrs 1266

I have had great use out of this unit but it has suddenly developed a problem. When I try to write to a CD it attempts but always comes up with "error"
I have tried different and expensive blanks and even done a complete hard drive initialize (as described in the manual) which wiped off all my recordings. Any advice would be gratefully received or at least a decent qualified repairers (local to Manchester if possible). I have concidered ordering a new CD-RW but the zoom model is £200 and if that's not the problem!!!??
Thank you

Alan

Welcome to HRC.

Have you tried cleaning the lens in the CD drive?

dB could be right on that one. I have an old Ricoh CD rom drive that will act up on occasion. Still reads, but not fast at times. Run a lens cleaner and it clears the problem up for awhile. The drive is probably almost shot, but it seems to help and lasts a good while.

alotta cd burners can be easily replaced, so you might just have a burned out burner. they're pretty cheap these days....compatibility might be an issue though.

Thank you for the info
I will try a lens cleaner today
I thought about buying an off the shelf CD burner but how can you load it's software onto the ZOOM mrs1266? I suppose that's what you mean by compatability problems?

from what i understand....cd burners are pretty generic...if i were you, i'd do some minimal research, but i bet if you swap it out with a new one (IF your actual burner is bad) that it'd work.

just keep in mind, that the burner might not be the source of the problem.

I installed an ASUS CD burner (about 40 bucks) and it works a treat!
