Congratulations to my oldest daughter (and newest band member) Chelsea on her graduation this year. I'm very proud of her and wrote the following lyrics for her (music to be posted soon). Now she is off to make up artistry school (theatre and stage makeup) in July.

Leaving the Past Behind

Is it a leap into the future?
Or leaving the past behind,
No one really knows for sure
But the world is all mine!

Cast amongst the sea of blue,
We must all anxiously wait,
All of us there to see you,
Scripted precision fate,

One by one, soon it’s your turn,
Cheers and fears and a big sigh,
So many more lessons to learn,
Now they must say goodbye,

Is it a leap into the future?
Or leaving the past behind,
No one really knows for sure
But the world is all mine!

It’s so hard to understand,
No open book and no real plan
Most are sure to agree,
This is how it was meant to be,

Is it a leap into the future?
Or leaving the past behind,
No one really knows for sure
But the world is all mine!

Why should I care who they think I’ll be?

Congrats! You must be so proud.

Well, of course you are...you're writing songs about it.

Congrats, nice lyrics as well.

I've got a few years, but I'm following along (mine are 12,12,11)

Thanks all! Wow, it was an emotional evening. Never thought it would be initially but she was definately impacted by the evening. I guess this is really a big turning point for her (and for me). For myself it was just a matter of asking myself, where did those 12 years go? I know that parents always ask that question but until the time came, I didn't really think about it.

Congrats BH!. I wish her future the best. You have a lot to be proud of I'm sure. A lovely young woman. I'm sure you spent many a night sitting on the porch with a shotgun. ;)

Indeed wish here congrats from here as well. Her looks fit her voice, I wondered what that voice looked like.

Anyway, nice lyric there BH, touching and uplifting. Tuna was in here when I got to this thread and all I hear behind me is "woah, who's daughter is that?"

He had not heard her sing yet so I had to play the song for him. Lets just say he was even more impressed.

But again, wish her all the luck in the world from here.

Dad, you're an instigator! I remember telling one of my daughter's dates, Francis that if he didn't get Audrey home by 10:00PM he would be St. Francis.

Home at 9:50! heheheheheehe Gotta have fun being a dad too!

It's a good thing I never had a daughter. She wouldn't have been allowed to leave the house until she turned 30...

Oh man, I've got 3 of them. Chelsea is almost 18. Amanda is 16 and Cassandra is 15. It's like we are running a Estrogen factory.

Indeed dads can have fun as well. While our pseudo daughter lived here for the two and some odd years it was indeed a raging hormone factory here with just here and the missus. So I can imagine with 4 of them there it must be, well it just must be!

BH, he.d probably head straight out the door. No GF for him for awhile which is a complete surprise.

Anyway, congrats again from all of us here.
