I was at guitar center and the sales guy was showing me this thing for recording. It was supposed to do the same thing as a vocal booth but smaller. I was like 300 dollers.

It looked like this.. from above...

The center dots is where the mics go.

Well your "picture" is pretty useless but are you talking about something like this

I'm sure it, and the many other similar one's do a good job but a portable laundry rack and some towels can do the same job and save you $290 for all the other stuff you need based on your other questions.

I use two aurelex corner fill bass traps strapped to mic stands... with the mic poking in between.

It does not remotely replace a vocal booth for isolation

Yep, that is one expensive piece of gear that can easily be duplicated for cheap. Ya, it works great, but even I wouldn't spend that kind of money on it when there are many other alternative that will work as good or better.

A coat rack with a towel on it. Or as tonyoci stated above a couple of laundry racks with towels on em. Look around the house at what you might be able to use to hold anything that will help dampen the sound the mic picks up.

Uh, at least one more time . . .

Yeah, the laundry rack with a large wool army blanket over it, the mike in front of that. It
works wonders--try doing it without, and then with--
you'll be sold, and it's very inexpensive.
