So I have just started to use cubase and have recorded one song. How do I keep the exact plug in settings for the effects on the vocals?(didnt use inserts processed the tracks.) I dont want to have to try to recreate the exact setting if I can just save it as a template. How do I do this?

most plugins have a way to save presets.

Yep, there should be a preset window that you can bring up a save as dialog with and simply name the preset what you want and save it. Otherwise you simply click in the window and type the name you want it to be saved as and the hit the little disc icon which is for the save function.

in most plugins its a little field at the top somewhere. to find any presets youve saved in that plugin, you can click on it and it becomes a drop down menu in many cases. your named preset will be in that box after it's saved, no matter what project you're opening the plugin in

Here is one thing to remember. Each application, meaning Cubase, Sonar or whatever has the preset folder for all synths and FX built into it. When the plugginn opens it is using that native folder inside the host program. You will then find sub-folders that are simply numbered, which you can rename for each pluggin you save a preset for. I use a pluggin manager that is in Sonar for managing all my presets. That way I can actually take the preset folder with me if I venture out of my own studio and into another that has the same type pluggins.
