Using a multiple in/out soundcard, an app such as Sonar, a pair of active monitors, and an analog mixer, is there any way to send the signal back into the mixer to mix through that, or will the mixing have to be done on the app or with a digital mixer?

Not done it yet but the way I'm thinking is.
I take my Delta 44 and use the 4 outs to go into the line-Ins on the mixer and monitor from the, as you call it, '"Sounddisaster" then re-record back to the soundcard from the Main-outs or Sub.
This only gives me 4 tracks to put back into the mixer on separate channels, not enough to mix a whole song but maybe a rhythm section or drum track which is all I'm planning to do. I presume you'd have to assign the software output to track each channel.
I can't see another way without more Delta's

Unless you buy lots of Cd players and plug em in!!

If you mixer has subgroups or spare aux loops you can. Run the outs of the soundcard back to the mixer, then through whatever processors you want them to go (assuming that is why you want to run it back), assign those channels to go out the aux sends or out subgroups and send those back to the sound card and re-record the mix or a couple tracks in your app.

My setup usually runs the outs of my Audiophile back to the mixer for easy volume control then out to the amp. I explain that basic setup in my most recent article about PC-based studio setup.
