iv'e got a edirol UA 101 but also got a audigy 4 pro pci with breakout box.i just want to be able to play general music whilst not recording or jamming from the edirol interface.it doesn't come with any graphic equalizers or media playing software that allows sound tweeking and adjustments to sound quality.i really enjoy the creative media source software that came with my pci card but i cant use it coz i have uninstalled the card due to having the edirol now???

You can run two cards with no problems at all.

I've been doing it for years.

In fact with the Motherboard's sound interface i have three.

I have my creative as the defualt card so games and movies use that.

Then in Cubase i use the ASIO drivers of the M-Audio.

Never had a drama.

If your using Vista then drivers can be problematic (maybe) but 2 cards are cool!

Be aware you can run in to driver conflicts and such, it's not like you can always just slap a couple in there and it'll work. It can, but just be warned.

The big issue can come up if you try to use both simultaneously. If you simply want one for DVD's, mp3's etc, and one for "audio work", then it should be fairly easy.

yeah i agree, bleak have you ever used both (or all three) interfaces for tracking all at once? usually you have to choose A device from a list of all cards. i know it is possible with some brands though.

I've been using four(including my built-in card) and never had an issue. However, the 3 cards are PCI and they are all M-Audio. I would imagine that multiple cards from various vendors would cause some grief though.

I've had wonderful success with an RME and a Lynx One card running simultaneously under NT4.0. Had a Soundblaster Live that worked fine with the RME before the Lynx, but it died...

WYD,

No, I only use the M-audio for tracking.

I tested the other card (SB Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro) But it's useless after about 2 tracks.

And i've never used the MB interface at all (although the drivers are installed)

One time (not at band camp) i used the M-audio for input and the Creative for output to use the PC as a phone. No probs at all

I've used both of my M-audio cards at the same time with ASIO , and i've used both m-adio PCI cards with a Lexicon Omega (4 in's) USB with MME drivers at the same time .From what i've found, is you can use simular cards with ASIO drivers if you daisy chain them . If you're using ASIO drivers with multiple cards (USB, PCI, firwire, brands) at least in Sonar, you can only choose one to record at a time .
