May 10, 2007 10:20 am What an awesome development. I've followed AI dev in bits and pieces throughout the years, and this one is a doosey.
Maybe not real AI, but very good pattern recognition, and algorithmic decision making.
Fascinating stuff. I can't wait to see more of it.
He's also looking at time and the universe . . . maybe he'll need to make a time machine to go back in time to kill his skynet system =(.
hmmm . . . sounds like a movie in there somewhere . . .

May 10, 2007 10:46 pm i always thought that real AI would be fundamentally alien in some way. so this fits the bill. in other words, i'm not sure i ever thought that the goal of AI should be create machines that act like humans. as long as you get actual thinking happening, i think that suffices. this looks like the process behind thinking (pattern matching and memory of a particular kind) has been cracked at last. so for me it qualifies as real AI because it was sort of what i was looking for. emotionless, raw thinking.
