I am thinking of purchasing a Behringer mixer. On my sound card I have a line in, spdif in, and auxilary L and R on the front, also a 1/8 in the back. How to i hook up the mixers main out L and R to my sound card? do i have to use a Y connector and how does this affect sound? I have heard a lot of bad things on the SB live cards. I only plan on recording acoustic guitar and vocals(not at the same time). Am i wasting my time with this sound card.
thanks, Scott

Jan 13, 2003 08:07 pm You are never wasting your time trying, time will tell if it works for you or not, some use SB Lives and are happy, some are not. I personally was not pleased with the Live at all...you might be.
You would take your left and right outs and join them with a Y cable into a stereo 1/8" plug and use the 1/8" line in jack on the back...or that is what is working really well in my mind :-)
Jan 14, 2003 12:16 am I have a 1/4 input on the front of the live drive, should i just use that with the Y connector. The mixer has 1/4in jacks for its output right?
Jan 14, 2003 05:22 am Yes it has 1/4" outs on the mixer, however, I am not sure but isn't the 1/4" in on the "Live Drive" a mono in for a guitar or microphone or something like that?

Jan 14, 2003 08:46 pm It has both dB, you can switch between them.
I could never get a hot enough signal from the line-In so I always used the Mic-In as it had a gain control and to me it sounded the same.
Question dB, How does a man with your knowledge know how a soundblaster sounds?
Surely you didn't actually buy one?

Jan 15, 2003 05:01 am Could you not plug one in the front and one in the back? not sure what inputs are on the back, I've never looked!
Jan 17, 2003 04:33 am murphy, yeah, each input is assigned it's own name in the list. you can control it all from the software mixer. im using a SBLive Platinum in addition to my main recording card, an M-Audio Delta 44. the soundblaster is mostly just for my videogames' audio :OD

Jan 17, 2003 01:14 pm Yeah, I see it in the Windows Play control, Line-In and Line-In2/Mic.
I also use a Delta-44.
