I have been looking for both sm58's and 81's in various placs, i have been coming across some shops/ebay items etc. putting "LC" at the end of the name.

Can someone please tell me why this is? i've noticed that the LC ones are alaways well under the RRP so whats up with them??

cheers guys

"Less Cable" apparently....

Watch out for cloned 58's. My friend picked one up about a month ago. Looked very very similar but had no output transformer, crap components and the shure sticker around the bottom of the grill looked liked it was printed and glued.

I don't know either. Shure has it listed as must SM-81 but a single line appears below the main description like this.

SM81-LC with windscreen, without cable. Phantom power required.

Yet below in the spec box it says the SM-81 comes with a windscreen. Nothing stating anything about a cable. And both describe needing phantom power which is reasonable as it is a condenser.
