Hey, wondering if you guys could possibly give some mix suggestions on two songs below. You guys have been a help in the past, wondering if you guys could help out again. Thanks, much appreciated. I'm feeling pretty good about both mixes but I'm open to any suggestions, always good for another pair of ears.

I can't access the file(s) as file sharing is blocked here at work. I'll try and give it a listen later when I'm at home.

On it.

Ok, on "Ready"

Ok, music sounds fantastic although that wood block clapping noise is a little loud.

Vocals sound really well done but are way too quiet in the mix imo. The wood block may be shadowing them a bit but I think they could come up overall, the singing is good, be proud and jack em up!

So yeah, little less clap and a bit more vox ftw!!

Overall a great tone on this and quite catchy to my metal loving ears, my wife would shake her butt to it I'm guessing. Thumbs up.

"You don't know us"

Mix is nice and level on this one. Powerfull tone to it... Once again, vox are too quiet imo. I think in Hip Hop they should sit in the mix nicely, but let them dominate just a little over the other instruments. Song overall is good although I think "ready" would be the one to push on labels/put on a demo cd for a press kit.

So yeah, just a little more vox volume on this one and I'd call it good.

Should the vocals actually be louder then the beat in the overall mix? ( reach a higher db level then the beat?) If so how much more should it be, I can never quite get a good understanding of how high to turn the vocals.

The way these songs go, the are mostly instrumental with the vox coming in now and again. In that respsect I look at them as kind of a solo and would treat them as such. I would not put them so loud that they drown out the mix but when they come in, that is where the focus should be where mine wandered back and forth.

That make sense?

In regards to them actually reaching a higher DB level, I don't think that really applies as different frequencies are heard differently. When I play a high toned guitar lead the DB is significantly lower than say the rythm guitar but the audio itself is quite loud to my ears. So with that in mind, I would close my eyes and listen vs. looking at the levels.

whew, hope that helps man. They both are really nice arrangements.

P.S. I think vox being louder depends on the music or song. Most radio rock the vox are definitely higher as is most hip-hop while much of the metal usually has the vox right about level with instruments.
