We have a snow day here in western Wisconsin, so what better way to while away the hours than to record another country gospel song. This one's called "Get Me On The Road To The Lord":

Banjo is fake, as are the drums. Sloppy flatpicking is real.

Thanks for listening!

Jim

That's good stuff, man. Sounds authentic as hell. Even the "fake" banjo.
And how'd you accompish that, exactly? One of those new-wave "midi" things I keep hearing about??

Nice job.

Wonderful stuff, Jim. Not my cup of tea (I guess I'm not saved...), but I can appreciate it (from a distance! HAHAHA). The recording is absolutely on the money. All levels are right where I'd expect them to be, and the definition on the guitar is stunning.

You rock....er...I mean....pick.....or something.

Nice song! I love stuff like this.

I'd say the lead vocals are kinda low in the mix during the verses, but otherwise, sounds really good.

Good clean fun!

Nice job on the banjo track for sure. The flat picking didn't sound all that bad at all. Kinda natural sounding if ya ask me. Nice bouncy feel for a gospel track really. Liked the harmonies once again. Nice job on the guitar sound again as well.

I will agree with coolo on the lead vocal needing to come out front a tiny bit more, you can hear it but it is set back a little bit.

Otherwise nice and straight forward sounding track once again.

Thats great Jim! I really like song, banjo sounds real to me and your recording and playing sound great as well. Vocals could be up just a bit as the others have said, but overall top job.

Woohoo! or should I say YeeHaw!

The banjo sounds great...what do you mean its fake? Is it a variax or something like that?

I like how you make the background vocals present but they don't interfere with the main vocal. Were they different mics or what?

My only suggestion would be to either make the rest of the instruments hold the last note along with the guitar or make the guitar cut off with the rest of the instruments. But thats small beans...this mix sounds great!

Thanks again for the continued positive feedback. But be careful...you're only going to encourage me!

It's actually a MIDI arrangement created by "Band-in-a-Box" software. From there it goes into GarageBand, which has an awesome-sounding banjo patch. God...I feel so phony!

Wow, its a very convincing sounding banjo for sure. I would have sworn that somebody barefoot in overalls and a straw hat chewing on a wheat stem was playing the banjo. And to think that it was a computer. What, do you use one of them "Cowgate 2000" computers?

Great job, really enjoyed the song and the message. I'm not much of a Christian these days, but I've always enjoyed the kind of sound you're getting.

Man...where was this four years ago when I was living in North Carolina and driving around the southern USA?

Excellent stuff. I take my country gospel in relatively small doses, but this would be a welcome part of any such dose. Good job.

country gospel?! So that does that all involve, loving God, drinking to much and getting dumped by your woman all in one song?

;-)

I'll listen tonight, just being a smart-aleck for now...
