When I am recording I use computer drums exported from fruity loops. and if I play to them for about three and a half minutes I play the last note in time with the drums and when I hit stop it is about an eighth note off.
I was told by a friend that my problem is with lag time. I found the place in settings to change the lag time it started at 10 samples so I went to 5 samples and that seemed to be the wrong way so I went up. 70 samples seemed to be the closest but still way off (about a 16th) When I went further than 70 samples it got worse again.
I have settings I can change for slack time and clock drift but I don't know what these are or how to use them.
I tried to search the forums and didn't see anything specifically about this so please don't "josh hates you" me about this.
I need help

Feb 25, 2007 02:26 pm Cool edit, under options/multitrack has an "Automatically correct drift" button that you should check. It should figure out the latency and do correction dynamically.
It was this way in cool edit 2 anyway, something to try.
Feb 25, 2007 09:38 pm thanks for the tip, I'll let you know how it comes out.

Feb 27, 2007 09:25 pm Hey Herb, I was busy finishing that DVD. Now that it is done I got an article or two to finish for here and maybe get in some playing time as well. I need to catch up though as I'm about 4 days behind in thread checks I see.
Welcome to HRC by the way Larry. I see Tripps got you squared away already as well.
