Does Anyone else use a Zoom MRS1608 Here?

Hello,
My name is Jack. Long time "Home Recorder Person" New to the Zoom MRS1608. I was just wondering if theres any Vetrens here that could give me some tips? My last DAW was a Roland VS840 that I had hotrodded to a 840EX with a Laptop Hard Drive and SCSI card to get it's files to my PC.
I think I need to "forget" what I know about the 840, and start over with the Zoom. I'm having one heck of a time with the Zooms drum section. I dont really care about the Bass, as I play Bass and prefer real Bass anyway.
I just thought I could meet other MRS1608 users and learn from you. I've found in my life experience, that the people who make these electronics, dont pay too much attention to their manuals.
Thanks in advance,
Jack

And the occasional live band jamming thing
Finally got a grip on the computer software/programs...

In the future you might wanna post a question like this at Geargab.

Hey Jack, sorry for the late reply here. Are there any specific questions regarding the Zoom unit? I don't use that unit but am somewhat familiar with it to a certain point.

And welcome to HRC by the way.

Hi Jack,
My name is Joe Russ. I've owned a
Zoom 1608 for a couple of years. I've used it alot and am fairly happy with it but I agree the manual leaves a lot to be desired. It leaves out so much important info. I'd love to know what all the effects settings really are and how to use them. THey don't tell you so you have to just experiment. Like the mastering settings, they give no clue as to what they are and what to do with them.I've made some nice CD's with it but I still have a lot to learn. I don't know it all but I'll be glad to share what I know. My email is
[email protected].
Good luck,
Joe

Hey Jack.

Before I finally made the switch to a computer based set up I used a Zoom MRS 1044 for several years (which is pretty similar to the 1608). Using the drums is not very intuitive and took me a long time to lay out even simple beats. Be sure to post any specific questions you have and I'll try to help. I still have my 1044 laying around in the attic.

Also, you might want to check out yahoo groups to see if there is a good group for the 1608. I used to be in a group for the 1044 and they had a lot of great info.
