Hi all, I've recorded a dry, DI'd guitar track and now I want to send it out of my m-audio fasttrack pro to an amp and mic it( I was using a guitar cable and also tried a stereo rca cable with a single 1/4" adaptor at the amp). It works, but there's computer generated noise in the signal. Is this because of an impedance issue with the input on the amp? It even happens out of the headphone out on the m-audio, although if I plug phones in there, it's quiet.
Any ideas?
thx
Ron

Feb 21, 2007 11:12 am The only thing that comes to mind is that the FastTrack is probably putting out a line-level signal. Your amp expects an instrument-level signal, which is a much weaker signal. When the amp gets a really strong signal, I'm not sure what would happen, but excessive noise wouldn't surprise me.
I guess that the question is: how to transform the line-level signal from the FastTrack to an instrument-level signal? If there's an adjustment on the output level from the M-Audio, I'd try turning it down

Feb 22, 2007 10:56 pm You will probably need a DI box that will do line matching. It works in reverse of the norm were as it takes line level and matches the input impedance of an amps input load.
