Cubasis....

I was just wonderin whether the cubasis VST(its sorta like a trial I have to upgrade it to get the full thing) program is good for recording coz i got it in a software bundle with my SB audigy plat. EX and is Fruity loops good too(same like the cubasis another upgrade....)???i tried recording with my pro tools free prog. but it doesn't really work..when i try recording through my microphone, and start recording nothing happens and there's no sound during the playback.....can some one tell me how to fix it?...if not i'll just switch to the Cubasis VST
