I jus bought the XENYX 2442 and cannot record anything. I am not getting any signal going ito the Cubase SX or Sonar Home Studio 4. I get great sound from my guitar, Mic and Trinity but cannot seem to get a signal going into the sequencers. Could someone please help tell me the way to do this. SOS

Hey man,

Are you getting a good level on the mixer? I assume so. If there are nice green lights when you play your guitar then that's a yes.

What sound card/ audio intreface are you using? I doubt it will be the Behringer. Probably more likely to be a connection problem or the simple fact that Cubase is not configured correctly to receive your inputs.I kow when I try and record in Cubase I have a little trouble getting it to detect my soundcard.

Also, if you have the Alesis firewrie 16 why buy the Xenyx?

It'll be sorted soon enough I'm sure. We're a friendly bunch on here.

have you got the drivers installed for the xenyx? Can you see them in the device manager of cubase?

I don't think the xenyx is an interface. I think it's just a mixer. I looked at a pic online, and didn't see any PC connectivity.

Follow the chain:

From source into mixer: is there signal there?

From mixer channel through mixer, or direct out, or channel insert. how are you taking signal from the mixer channel?

If you're going out the main outs (or sub outs) then are they turned on? i.e. is the channel to group switch active, meaning, are you sending signal from the channel to the mixing bus: main or sub.

If your going out direct outs, or channel inserts, then there should be signal there. If inserts, only plugged in to the first click?

Now, if there's signal leaving the mixer, on 1 or many cables, what interface are you plugging into, as noted above. Are you seeing signal in the interface control panel? If yes, then on the software. If not, then something needs to be changed in your interface control panel. I'll leave that to you.

In the recording app, should be a config page, to tell software what inputs to listen on. Is the device listed? if not, then re-install drivers for device. If yes, then select device inputs.

Now, did you arm a track? i think both cubase and sonar need that to happen. Are you seeing signal in the software?

Hey did you get any results with your recording? I have a Xenyx1204 and have it connected to my computer via the UCA200 that came with the desk. I'm using Cubase SX2 as software. Has anyone been able to multitrack record using this equipment?

Uh, at least one more time . . .

Luke, I just saw this post of yours. You can't multitrack (that is, send out more than a stereo
signal) with the Behringer X1202. That thing is a mixer, and is designed for mixing multiple signals down to stereo. You'll need to step up to at least their 16 channel desk (I think).
What you need to look for are insert/send capabilities, or individual line outs for each channel. I'm assuming you have the DAW interface to handle the the multiple in/outs.
Haxey, check to see that channels are assigned to the busses or the main mix. There should be assign buttons on each strip. The busses need to be assigned to the main mix to be sent out, just like the channels. Also, check the tape monitor
switches. If there is signal at the meters, than that signal should be going out via the main outs.

Remember, a stereo signal IS multitrack, technically it can be used as two mono tracks. Just saying this so as not to confuse...or, well, maybe confuse further, I dunno...
