Yeah, OK, only about 5 minutes into it, but already look like it might be one of the more entertaining Super Bowls in recent memory.

I assume the whole show is canned every year, still, I agree, it was one of my favorite shows in memory. I dunno if I'd play an electric instrument during that kind of storm...

Holy turnovers, Batman!

NFL DRM prohibits descriptions or accounts of this event.

Prince was definatly live because you could hear the handeling noise... and knocking over the mic probably blew something because most of the volum was gone after that... I liked the show myself.

Personally I cringed after watching the footage of the HD camera landing in the mudpuddle...

And I forgot to mention... 'Super Bowl Curse' now applies to Prince... which is too bad... but it's not like he's had to write anything for the past 20 years... but it's sad to know that his career is now over...

I'm not in any way a fan of Prince (even though we both grew up in Minnesota), but that was the best half time show I've seen in years. And I don't think that the music was canned. If it was, they didn't tame the guitars very well in the mix!

Peyton has his ring...all is well with the world.

I am not a huge Prince fan, but I appreciate his vision and musicianship. I thought it was a good show overall. Perhaps he knows about the super bowl curse and figured he'd make it his last hurrah...he is still a legend just the same.

The game was very entertaining for the first half and started getting more predictable the second half I didn't even watch the last few minutes.

The weather made for some funny stuff, lots of fumbles and stuff, Grossman made some horrendous decisions.

i give prince props for still being well, um.. prince and doing what he does . He's a good musician for what it worth. Plus the medely of tunes was interesting, when he broke into best of you, i thought it was kinda funny and a little cool at the same time. I'm a goofy SOB any way.

i liked that he covered foo fighters, for some reason. he needs...something modern, after all, just so he doesnt come across as an 80s has been. im sure he does to many people.

very true. i've been working with a band that is "stuck in the 80's" and they want a "new sound" and it's hard to tell tell them that waht they do is good , but about 20 years too late. I'm not trying to be disrespectful to them (they pay $) but when they ask what they can do to be more modern i'm not sure what to tell them . I'm happy being the engineer but they want me to step into the produce role and make them top 40 ish.

I dunno, guys, you are what you are. Prince is an 80's icon. Nothing wrong with it the way I see it, I'd rather be a has been than a wanna be...at least he was there :-) he is nostalgic to me.

I went to my kids school (k-5) Saturday for a family night thing and the kids were out jumping and dancing to 70's rock stuff and it was great to see my kids having fun to "Play that funky music" and stuff like that and seeing parents (myself included) tapping their feet and some even out dancing with the little kids.

i was just fishimg for advice on what to tell these guys. there is nothing wrong with waht they are playing but they feel out of date ( the words they used) , there is a large 80 type scene here and they're getting gigs so i don't see a problem.

::shrugs:: I dunno, man, tell then to get a keyboardist, a girl singer that wears tight clothes and start covering Brittany Spears, Hillary Duff and Ashlee Simpson. :-)

Oh, and get an auto tune and a heavy reverb.

I have no doubts that the vocals were live, but I'd bet that the guitar track was just a reamped version of a previous take. There were just too many times that it didn't look synced up with what his hands were doing.

actually, i think there was another guitar player on the stage with the band. Sometimes it was Prince playing, sometimes it was the other one. Superbowl curse? Is U2 considered career over?

But yeah, my friends dubbed that the boring bowl, after the first quarter. I thought the GoDaddy spot was lame. Robert Goulet was hilarious as was rock paper scissors with an actual rock to the dome.

I thought Price was rather good. He really is a very good guitar player, and I've no doubt he was playing all that. Did anyone see the "sheet malfunction"!!!? That was when he was playing the symbol guitar, and the sheet billows up for the silhouette shot... Not exactly PG-13, that silhouette... Note how all the mic's and guitars were wireless? Good move. I think he deliberately didn't dance much as he was likely - in all the wet - to go down hard off his spike heels.

Venitieri...; the busted extra point play when he picks the ball up and looks for daylight...then crumples when he sees LB's coming his way fast; kick off...and the lame 'kicker' tackle attempt.
Actually the whole kicking game was off both sides. There were only a couple of kick-offs and punts that were hit cleanly; Tony Dungee's face after the "extra man" challenge...doh..;Erlacher (sp?) hungry? Every play he's in there.

I enjoyed it, on the whole. The Snickers commercial cracked me up..."Quick, do something manly."

Well, I didn't get to see the game nor the half time show. But I can toss this in about our home town boy Prince. He may best be remembered by many as an 80's icon, that is a given. But what is obvious is that most do not search very far to see what the man has been up to. Granted, he is not as high profile ans Jimmy and Terry, but that is the way he prefers it. He is and has been however still making record's. A lot of very good funk type stuff. Only station up here playing it is The Current, don't know about elsewhere though. And he is still producing and writing some killer music and film scores under different names. So he is not and probably wont die from the SuperBowl curse. I wish I could have seen the half time show though as I was really looking forward to it. But life has been a circus here for the last week so that is that.

Just though I'd let all the Prince fans know he is still a pretty viable music industry person.

And I wish I had seen the commercials as well.

i noticed what he appeared to be doing behind that sheet too, yes. and yeah, db, prince is fine as an 80s nostalgia act. i think what i mean is that he's good enough not to be, if he wanted to. he could modernize. i wonder why he doesn't break out of that mold. it can be cool if an act stays relevant across the decades.

i assumed the guitar was live. hand syncing probs, i dunno, i thought i noticed something, but there could be some kind of weird delay

forty, ya musta missed my post then. He is doing modern stuff these days. Jazz, Fusion, Funk and movie music and such. Some under his name, most not using his name. He is still doing plenty of stuff, and not just the 80's stuff. I guess no one payed attention to the NPG stuff in the 2000's then. It was a lot of soul and R n B type stuff. Very good stuff really. Not mainstream radio schlock though so I suppose most missed it.

First half of the game - AWESOME!!!
Second half - We knew what was coming...

I disagree on the Prince deal. There were some ugly toned bends (not necessarily bad) in there that only come from playing live. It was too imperfect to be synced. On a side note, I had some doubtfull people at my house and we watched him very close, I'm not saying he didn't have backup musicians but I firmly believe he was playing the leads.

And really, when running a wireless mic and a wireless guitar, how scary is a 9 volt battery in the rain, not very.

Last but not least, I don't think he needs to modernize. He is prince, he is a world known superstar like Madonna and Michael J. (not fox) No matter what he does he will always be Prince.

P.S. Dude... Fist bumps are out...

whats a fist bump?

yeah noize, i missed that, and i was unaware of that. i don't know, though, prince is too cool to not modernize. look at madonna, she kept trying. sometimes she failed, sometimes she won.

me and my friends were rolling when we saw the prince silhouette on the sheet. So funny!

But didn't Prince put out an album like 2 years ago. I would say he is definitely still relevant!

He put out an album within the last year as well I believe. I am not sure if it is under his name or one of his band or other alias names. It is a real twist on the Jazz fusion theme but is heavy on the funk thing for sure. I'll try and find what it is called and let ya know. But ya, otherwise the album from almost 2 years ago was with some of the same peeps from NPG and is some holy funk from above. Even I can't keep my feet from wanting to dance to it.
