They're in my profile... One is called Possible Trailor, and the other is The Thunder, Perfect Mind.

Feb 02, 2007 07:30 pm He Loki. The Thunder: Loved the guitar sound (the clean one, anyway). That's a sound I'll be stealing for one song I'm working on. Fan Queue. LOL.
Possible Trailor: Not my cup of tea, so I'll pass no judgement! However, I did like the sound on the kick.
Are you mixing on the DX4's? How's that going for you? I'm having trouble getting used to mine...

Feb 02, 2007 07:37 pm My DX4s blew not too long ago. Transformer or something, so at the moment I am mixing on these terribly bright panasonic stereo speakers, and a pair of sony stereo speakers. It's less than ideal, but it works. Once I got used to my DX4s i loved em, but they were a little bass heavy.
But yeah, gank that guitar sound all you want, god knows I didn't come up with it myself haha.

Feb 03, 2007 09:58 pm Neo surf punk, loved it. The Thunder that is. Was that drum loop's on their? I could see Maynard G. Crebs swaying to that one.
Liked the trailer piece to as well. Interesting sounds and nice drum sound as well. The mixes on both were really good.
Feb 03, 2007 10:27 pm The terribly bright Panasonic speakers may be hurting you. The highs trail off pretty quickly above 3 K or so. I like the frantic vibe though, and the Duane Eddy-type sound never gets old for me.

Feb 03, 2007 11:01 pm Herb - yeah I'm going to be running an EQ here shortly to flatten the speakers out, and that will help.
Noize - yeah they are both using a combonation of loops I had laying around that I did nothing with. Just put em together in wavelab and imported em into cubase. On the Thunder I am using the SSL plug.

Feb 05, 2007 04:14 pm Loki, sounds damn good then for sure. You did a good job putting em together for sure.
Herb, Duane Eddy?? Nice reference there for sure. Although he wasn't the king of surf guitar he sure was a big influence. How about Dicky Dale as well, em now I wanna go listen to some old surf records.
Feb 05, 2007 05:03 pm Duane Eddy, while "pre-surf" I suppose, recorded his guitar through a sewer pipe. What's not to love about that?...

Feb 06, 2007 10:27 pm Oh oh, Lokis gonna find some new music.
Herb, the sewer pipe trick was only one of many that those guys used back then. Dicky Dale and a couple others had their reverbs set up so touchy even a simple cord drag across the floor would set it into that crash sound mode as if the whole amp had fallen on the floor. I think that is why so many of those guys used those nasty coiled cord so they could smack the amp with the cord and get that reverb crash.
Oooooo, I'm getting goose bumps just thinking about those sounds back then.

Feb 07, 2007 11:01 pm I must say indeed Herb, indeeeeedy doooo.
If you have never heard the Les Paul with Mary Ford recordings it is an absolute must. He was a true inovater from that time. His playing and recording techniques were copied many times over and modified by many guitarist's over the years.

Feb 08, 2007 04:31 pm It's to Les Paul that we all owe thanks for the multitracking innovations...Without him, we'd be saying...."er......take forty-two....try not to get too loud on the middle eight..." and similar.
