I saw their public apology on one of their bumps before Futurama last night. They were definitely sincere in this (printed) apology.

I'm not sure what their point was in the press conference there...surely they were trying to make some statement by doing that. Its beyond me tho.

they were told not to talk about the situation, because although they were the perpetrators, they were obviously just following orders. and look at 'em. i'm sure turner didn't want them commenting on the case at all. but yet they were put in front of the camera. you can just go up there and not answer any questions (boring) or you can have fun with it.

inappropriate, but made for some fun tv. plus, the whole situation is stupid anyway. 'suspicious cartoons' shut down boston, you know.

I didn't catch what the actual incident was. Do you know what the scoop is on the actual scare?

the cartoon network attached magnetic light boxes beneath bridges and on buildings and stuff as an advertising scheme. the boxes showed an illuminated cartoon character from adult swim. motorists saw them during the day, saw the wires coming out, didnt know what they were, called police. the network hadn't bothered with permits so police had no idea what they were. shut down all the roads.

Bwahahahahahaha!

OK I guess I can see people being suspicious of seeing such things but damn I can't believe it shut down an entire metro.

they also detonated one...

you can't skimp on permits for that type of stuff... they'll assume the worst and react even worse. I've heard of SWAT teams being called in on film crews.

But companyies do hire some insainly stupid people for 'street teams'... however they are always effective ad campaigns... I mean... sticking lights to bridges is no huge ammount of exposure... sponsoring a bomb scare will get you days of prime time!

remember IBM's linux goof in Chicago where they painted sidewalks wih the "peace, love, linux" logo.... they were only out $18K for clean up and a $50 fine. and anouther $100K for the same thing in San Francisco... which Sun tried to turn into a public relations event "cleaning up IBM's mess."

I like the fact he calls his clients performance artist's. If that was performance then I am guessing they are usually out of work and probably got paid next to nothing for the stunt.

Kinda stupid an funny all at the same time. I wonder how they even got arrested, did someone actually see them planting the device's?

It's sort of like when I was in the military and the US military law office next to NATO Headquarters spent a half hour trying to figure out what a "Drill Bee" was... it was a pokemon card... try looking that up in a dictionary...because thats what most of the office was doing... I googled it...
