ok so i know nothing about midi, and just have a quick question. If i make a midi track in sonar 5, and draw in a bunch of random notes, how do i get it to play back? im using a firepod with my monitors connected to the monitor outs, so the master track is my output. how do i get it to do that? i cant figure it out

you need to assign a softsynth or MIDI channel to that data so it goes to the hardware on the assigned channel or uses the softsynth and uses the sounds supplied there.

dB is correct.

In more detail, click on Insert > DXi synth > Cakewalk TTS-1. If you've already made your Midi track then uncheck create source track, if you haven't then check it or leave it checked.
Then just go to the output of your midi track and make it the TTS-1.
The midi will now play as audio.

I have an old soundblaster in my PC just for Midi stuff but I only really use it when I'm messing around or creating the track, once it's where I like it to be I send the midi through the TTS-1, the sound is much better than the SB.
