Ideally I know that I should learn the monitors as they are... but would it be wise to EQ them at all? If so where would I start on that?

Jan 25, 2007 01:55 pm I would take a CD that you know is supposed to sound like, and EQ the speakers to it.
I use Foreigner's greatest hits, or Al Stewart's Year of the Cat.

Jan 25, 2007 01:58 pm yeah only thing is I've only got the EQ on my mixer, which sucks, so I guess I gotta go out and trade in some gear for a good EQ unit. I just listened to a song a recorded and mixed on my M-Audio DX4's before they blew, and on those it was nice and bassy, but on these panasonic and Sony speakers I had to turn the bass up

Jan 25, 2007 02:09 pm speaking of which, I didn't get the job I was interviewing for, so I won't be able to get those monitors and amp from ya. I'll send ya a PM or a note in the back room with what I can spend right now though after I go to music go round and find out how much I can get from some of my stuff collecting dust, and we'll see if the alesis is doable. I am confused on what it is though, you say 31 channel... is it a 31 channel desk or eq?
Jan 25, 2007 02:13 pm oops, sorry, 31 band I should have said...31 bands of EQ on each side...I'll sell it real cheap, to you, anyway considering all the help you've given me thru the years...hit me up.

Jan 25, 2007 02:24 pm Back on the subject of stereo speakers. I found something kinda interesting... What I am doing is running the outputs of the delta 1 and 2 into channel 1 and 2 on my mixer, which are set to go out Main out 1/2 with everything else in the mixer going out Group out 1 and 2. I have the 2t record outs going to the tape in on my stereo reciever. Now before I only had one pair of speakers hooked up to this, and when I would tweak the fader on channel one or two it would drop or raise the volume, but the other day I threw another pair of speakers coming out of reciever, and now the volume on the desk don't do jack, however the eq and stuff still works. I figured with two sets of speakers I'd be able to A/B when mixing, as well as have one pair near the monitor, and one pair in my make shift mixing position. It's not really a big deal, as I can still adjust the volume via the knob on the reciever, but it's kind of annoying. Anyone know why this happens?
Jan 25, 2007 02:31 pm The record outs are pre-fader on the mixer. Adding another pair of speakers shouldn't have changed anything.

Jan 25, 2007 02:34 pm yeah that's what I thought too... However, I think I found the problem. The power cable seems to be screwed as it no longer is turning on after i accidently hit it, so it must be a broken cable or something. Gah I am hating this desk more and more each day. If I didn't need it to route my delta to my stereo reciever I would throw it out the window right now.

Jan 26, 2007 09:48 am i've seen that anomoly in programming all the time. You mess with something for a few weeks and it won't run despite your best debugging efforts.
Start over from scratch, same equations, same everything, and the dumb thing works.

Jan 26, 2007 10:13 am ugh, i done that a bunch of times, one script works, the other doesn't, identical code. copy one over to the other, and it works, sheesh.
Jan 26, 2007 10:21 am Please Note Sarcasm:
All you lousy programmers, I never write bad code, mine always works...
