hey, thanks for the response.
the jerking happens before i even record anything.
just as i rewire reason and cubase to have the reason backtrack play back via cubase, it plays to the end of the loop, then instead of a smooth loop, it will jerk... and kinda catch up!

is my system too weak?
will it handle the audio when i start recording takes?

well i dont think ur system is to weak, cuz i do some pretty quality recordings with no glitchyness on my ibm thinkpad x21 from like 2001, with 320 ram and only a 10 gig hd
so ya it shouldnt be that

i think it just might be the loop, not a smooth area to loop it maybe? plus im not a big fan of cubase, it gives me tomany problems, but sx is pretty good, but i would suggest trying a diffrent program for the loop, or possibly (the way i preffer it) good old fashioned, i guess what u could call manual looping, like, copying the track and laying them over, im not to good with looping effects and such so i do it that way myself, but im weird like that

o and by the way,
WELCOME TO HRC :D;D;D;D;D

im actually looping a midi programmed part.
it plays all too well with reason alone..perfect loop.
but as soon as i rewire it with cubase, that happens!
thanks for the effort tho', and the welcome!
hope somebody can help soon.

ha yea sorry, im not to good with the cubase stuff, but its obviously as u have already said in the transfer between the programs, i still do it manually tho, call me old fashioned i guess, even tho im probably younger than allot of people here, haha

Hey LEMMI, I may know what your problem is. Are you monitoring the output of the Maya through the 802 mixer? If so that is possibly the cause right. I would assume if that is what you are dong that you are getting the signal sent into the Maya via the main outs of the 802. That will combine anything on any of the channels right back into the new tracks being recorded.

AS well I think it is possible since the Maya has a similar set up in the windows control panel that you may have to go in and uncheck a box in the recording options that is marked What You Hear.

For the jerking item, that is what is known as drop out. It is the fault of the software itself. You may have your latency buffer set too low, and raising it might help that out. Otherwise you may want to check for any updates to Reason and Cubase SX2. I know right now Cakewalk product have worked very hard to eliminate completely the drop outs caused by some ReWire clients such as Reason and their own synths as well.

Oh man I'm sorry. I had another post on my mind when I was replying here. He is using Reason as well and was having issues with hearing all track while he had them muted.

Anyway, with the 802 you will be a bit limited as to how you can do that as it isn't really set up for doing that.

The easy way around it is to hook his mic up on channel one. Then keep the channel volume down and turn up the FX knob which will send the signal out the send jack, connect that to an input of the Maya which will allow Cubase to record it. You will have to get a headphone splitter adapter though to use two pair of headphones with it though. That or he can listen through the headphones and you can hook speakers up to listen in.

thanx much! so does that mean we're both monitoring the signal from the soundcard's output?
and is this the same output that goes to my speakers? does the soundcard output ever go back into the mixer (802), or do i use it exclusively for the mic input?

also, i have a turntable setup with its own 2 channel mixer, that i mix out of, and sometimes need to record its output into cubase... how would that fit in?

Yes, you would both hear the sound cards output. You should have the sound card going back into the mixer to use it for monitoring both the headphones and the speakers at the same time.

And yes, the turntable misers outputs can either go directly into the sound card or into a couple of the other mixer channels, say 3/4 5/6 whatever. I prefer pumping my DJ mixer's straight into the audio interface, but as well I have many inputs to choose from.
