Tough call there,

If volume truly is an issue, you'll pretty much throw any benifits of having a large dia condenser right in the garbage. If you have to crank the preamp to get a managable signal then you'll bring up the noise floor just as much.

Then again, you could offer like 40 bucks and maybe it'll turn out to be a cheap fix and you end up with a quality mic at a bargain.

It's a gamble definitely...good luck.

I'd say you should ask the manufacturer what they'd recommend. Chances are, they know what the problem is and if it's possible to fix or not!

For $60 you could get an MXL 990 that actually works. Its not as nice of a mic, but it'd sound better than a broken AKG!

lol ok then i guess i should wait then, i just only have like 150 bucks and its hard to get any good mic at that price, its the mic i've always heard about and wanted since i got interested in recording.

so i guess ill use the money for cables and mic stands, and the like,

im currently just finished my studip, sorrta, and im using my dads xlr's and stands exept for one thats mine, so i would like to be on my own

so ya thanx ecveryone for the imput ;)
