I have a simple technology problem and I wonder if someone can help. I don't do much recording at all, but I have a client with a website and they want to have a decent audio recording on their site of someone reading a ten minute speech. They are in Texas, I'm in DC.
Does anyone know of a web-based program that records up to a 10 minute file, stores it for me, then someone elsewhere can download it and store it locally? Bonus points if its free...?
THANKS

Jan 10, 2007 02:35 pm can't say I know of that, but why not just have them record it on tape, mp3 player or something and email or snail mail it to you for you to encode on your system?

Jan 10, 2007 02:43 pm I just figured that there's bound to be an even easier way. This doesn't have to be great quality. To clarify, I'm in DC with the guy who needs to be recorded, the non profit and webmaster are in Texas.
I just figure a file of someone talking for 10 minutes is going to be way too large to send via the internet. Don't people somehow use Napster-like technology this way?
Jan 10, 2007 02:45 pm oh, you are the voice talent, I see...
a 10 minute mp3 will be able 10 MB (give or take with encoding specs) totally emailable on most systems.

Jan 11, 2007 02:14 am Record the track, encode to mp3 and then you could either e-mail it or setup an FTP if neither of you already have one (I would assume the webmaster needing the files would have a place you could upload them to). Oh yeah, if the quality does not have to be "great" you could even encode at 64kbps MP3 which would cut 10 minutes down to about 5MB, easily e-mailed and would sound pretty alright.
