UCA 202 Input Volume..

My UCA202 shows up as "USB Audio Codec" under Windows XP.

However, if I look at the advanced sound properties, I have playback options. If I select "Adjust volume for" - Recording, there are no devices listed. I am unable to up the level of my input signal and it is too low to be very useful.

Is there a way to make this available?

Welcome to HRC.

Go here, www.behringer.com/05_supp...ds.cfm?lang=eng and download the driver pack which will install an ASIO driver set up that should allow you to use it for both. Funny thing is this is the 4th time today I have posted this link. Seems everybody is finding out that this little gadget is not really plug and play.

Anyway, you should then be able to adjust the input volume in your recording app what ever that may be.

I had downloaded the .cpl file but did not know I needed the midi driver - it is the only driver listed, so I assume that is the one I need.

Its the driver pack at the top of the list. You don't need a midi driver as the UCA does not have midi. You only need the ASIO driver pack.

All that was in that file is the .cpl file? I have the ASIO item in my control panel and I go into the control panel and it says the driver is activated, but I do not get any items listed in the "Recording" properties of the "mixer device: USB Audio Codec"

I see Speaker, Wave, SW Synth, and CD Player listed in the "Playback" properties. Should I have something listed there? That is the place I normal adjust input levels for input devices - like my USB Headset with mic.

Sorry to be a little slow on the uptake on this one and thanks for your assistance.

OK, open the Windows sound recorder. Now click edit and in that menu click Audio Properties. That should bring up a tab called audio properties with 3 sections, Sound Playback, Sound Recording and MIDI music playback. It will give you the option to select Default device. In playback select the USB Audio Codec or it should actually list an ASIO driver type name use that if it is there. In recording select the same device.

I tried the Windows sound recorder with my Toneport which is a USB device and it comes up and is usuable in both playback and recording. So that tells me that the Windows sound recorder will work with a USB audio interface. If it does not work for you then the limitation is actually the UCA202 device drivers not installed properly or they just are not compatable with the recorder.

You might want to have a look into one of the many freeware recording applications out there instead of using the windows recorder then.

Interesting. The volume is not available for the USB Audio Codec. I am going to contact Behringer in the next few days.

Ya, it sounds as though something is not right in the drivers or the way the hardware is seen by windows. There seems to be a good deal of people with that interface having similar issues as yours.

I would like to give my experience with two samples of the uca 202. They both recorded fine (plug and play) into both a 3G machine and an old 600meg clunker with only usb 1.1 ports. the audio output was however very low both on the headphone out and the rca's. The optical out was fine, feeding a Sony minidisc recorder. On a 1khz tone I measured the i/o levels and found the playback was 31bd down ref the monitor level. I have now tried the 202 on a new 3G pc, still low.
I have been in email contact with Behringer.de but they are in denial.

I've just got one of these and have exactly the same problem - i.e. no recording faders appear in the volume control panel for recording. I've installed the driver from the Behringer site but it won't work.
Any suggestions?
Did you get yours to work?
Thanks

No go. I found out that the device, while kind of cool, requires a pre-processor of some type. You can't plug directly into it with, say an instrument or microphone - which is what I wanted.

Behringer doesn't make this very clear.

Hi.
I downloaded the Asio4all driver which so far
seems to work very well with the UCA202.I don't think the one on the Behringer site is meant for
the UCA202.Why the hell they can't make that more
obvious though is beyond me.For the price though
you can't knock Behringer and this little soundcard.

I just bought the UCA202 and plugged it in to my computer but nothing happened. Also does it work for GARAGEBAND?
