i've never been up 'ehr before. but to get back to orlando from la for xmas here, i had a layover in minneapolis. saw the city coming in from above. it was just after sunset and the sky behind us was deep ruby red. the city itself was prettier than i thought it'd be. i noted one lake that had fingers of light, situated upon some sqwerly land bridges, spreading all through it like weird filaments. and then that huge, straight thoroughfare that runs right into downtown, that was cool. you don't usually see something like that. all in all i thought the city looked fairly christmas-y from the air, and i thought it was good.

i brought my garmin gps on board with me. i recommend that. didnt know if it'd work, but if you sit next to the window, it will. you can then see your progress across the country, along with an accurate arrival time prediction. you can see features on the ground as you fly over. you can see your airspeed and elevation. amusing were the 'turn by turn instructions.' since i had my unit set to 'off road' (in order to give me the straight line to minn, a line which the plane actually hugged the whole way) the only turn in the journey was this one: turn left in 1400 miles.

best purchase i ever made, by the way. way cooler than music gear even.

anyway, nice city, folks.

Yeah, Minneapolis is a pretty cool city and ther surrounding lakes are great, St. Paul sucks though.

Oh, and currently zek, the freeways still suck, but we have no snow.

Blasphemous!! :-)

Actually, it does sound pretty cool. And if you saw Mpls. from the sky you probably flew right over my town just as you were about to make your final descent.

I think he was coming from LA so it would have been Lake Minnetonka with all the land bridges. Some of which are probably the huge peers for the rich people's big boats. And the straight thoroughfare was probably Interstate 394 which used to be just plain old highway twelve. It now joins up with Interstate 94. That is of course if it was the east/west bound highway. Otherwise it would have been Interstate 35W which runs north/south. That does run smack into and through the middle of downtown Minneapolis. But it is a bit more curvy right up until a couple miles outa downtown.

So anyway, you did probly fly over Jims house on your way outa our fine state though.

But ya, the GPS sounds like fun. I've been wanting one but am waiting till they come down a bit more yet.
