I got a little mixer for xmas. Now, i dont have much equipment, but i do have a dod effects unit with chorus, eq, and compressor. I want to use that in the aux bus thing. the dod has an effects in/out loop. as does the aux bus on the mixer. but, when i create that loop and turn up the aux levels i dont get any change in sound. (good cables and everything is on) Now if i go from aux to the mono in of the dod and mono out of the dod to the aux return i get the effects but its noisey as hell. am i doing something wrong or do i just need a real effects unit?

What DOD unit do you have? it sounds like you are doing it correctly, is this effects thing a rack mount unit or a pedal of some sort? Are you plugging the mono return back into the mono return of the mixer. Many mixers have a mono send and a stereo return, fi you are only using a mono return the left return is usually labelled for use as a mono return...I think it's the left anyway, on any account, one of the two should say "left/mono? or "right/mono? SO just be sure you are using that one.

its a 4 pedal deal. i got it around 92 or so. its actually a for the bass, but i use it to smooth out and brighten up acoustic. and ya im using the mono of the aux. and the aux bus works, i just cant loop it through effects send/return on the dod.

Is this right? The aux loop is for having effects running all the time, that you can add to all the channels in the mixer at various levels?

Ya dude, just turn up the "aux" knob on the channel you want to go through the loop, the more of the signal you want going throught he loop, the farther you turn the knob up.

If you turn the knob half way, half the signal goes through the loop and the other half goes through the rest of the channel and comes out dry (or, uneffected).
