MC 303 Creating Beat patterns

Hi,

I ve just set my hands on 303. I used it briefly 5 years ago, but am confused now because i used KORG grooveboxes since.

I have a basic question and haven't been able to find an answer in the ohhh so weird manual of the 303.

Here is my problem

I seem to be stuck in keyboard mode and cannot switch to step by step beat creation mode

How can I create beats, step by step... by inputting the samples playback "timing" on the 16 keys (just like Rebirth or KORG grooveboxes)? Another way to put this is how can I create beats in non-live mode? And how do I assign my 8 beat samples in the first place?

MSN : [email protected]

cheers
Paul

You need to turn on the Sequencer/Arranger mode. This will allow you to step write in your notes and play them back. And yes, Roland manuals leave a lot to be desired.

If I get a little time I'll try and take a peak at the manual online and see if I can find it. If it is like some of the older Roland gear it is probably buried in there deep.

I'm still trying to find the manual online that will download or is in PDF from. One thing to try is swtiching from song to pattern mode. If I remember correctly some of the Roland gear it was simply that. I know in ReBirth that is how you switch from the play to step write mode. An ReBirth is just software versions of the TB series which is the older version of what you have.
