Total beginner question - thanks in advance for advice!
Recording acoustic & pedal steel guitar with Behringer Xenyx 802 mixer, UCA200 USB interface, Dell laptop with Logitech USB headphones, Tracktion software.
There is about a 1/3 sec delay between picking a string and hearing it in the headphones. How to I eliminate that???
Steve
PS - Has anyone seen any documentation for the UCA200? I sure haven't!

Nov 27, 2006 07:05 pm I assume you mean the UCA202? Here is a link to the manual page were you can download info.

The delay you are hearing is from the latency introduced by the sound card, UCA202. It does not help that you are using USB headphones along with that s they themselves will introduce some latency as well since they are acting as their own audio interface. One thing I will ask is if you have installed the correct drivers for the interface itself? You should be using ASIO drivers for the lowest possible latency.
Also, what are the specs on your laptop? CPU speed, Ram and so on.

No, it's really a UCA200 - but pretty much the same as the 202. No drivers req'd and it works fine.
Ah, I see about the latency. I switched to non-USB headphones plugged into the mixer. I guess what I really need to do is figure how to listen to the first track and live track on the headphones, while NOT feeding the first track back through the mix. Not clear how to achieve this on the little Behringer mixer.
