Hi
I have an electric bass guitar. I have a Creative X-FI XTREME MUSIC which has a MIDI input, could I get an adapter to plug into my MIDI input on the sound card and that adapter would have a connection for the standard bass guitar lead so I could record straight onto a program like Cubase SX 4 with my bass. I would have this along side my MIDI keyboard.

Nov 18, 2006 07:58 am you can't adapt an electric bass to digial MIDI...MIDI is digital data, not audio.

Nov 18, 2006 08:01 am Thanks for the quick reply,
So there are no converters or anything that I could use to do this?
Nov 18, 2006 08:06 am it's two different kinds of signal, one is audio (from the bass), actual sound waves...MIDI is just 1's and 0's, just digital data. You would need to plug the bass into a line input jack.

Nov 18, 2006 08:09 am Hi
Sorry I am new at this stuff. I think that that was what I was meaning at the start. Where can I get a good line input jack online in UK?
Nov 18, 2006 08:11 am you'll need a better sound card...I am surprised your card doesn't have an audio input of some sort.

Nov 19, 2006 12:17 pm NO it does not have an audio input for your bass. For that you will need to use the LINE IN of the X-Treme and have that recorded to an audio track in Cubase. I do suggest getting a line match tranformer or small inexpensive pre amp to get the level of the bass up to line level for a decent recording of the bass signal though.
