i recorded these songs a few weeks ago. An old mate of mine is a singer/songwriter and asked if he could use my services. Thinking he ment recording services, i said no problem be here at X time blah blah...he turned up with 3 sets of lyrics and asked me to write the music, he had a few riff ideas but nothing concrete. He said he wanted at least one song he done today, so i banged out a few ideas on my les paul at him and got some ideas he liked. Once we got the first song to somewhat of a structure, i set up my drum mics and did sound check with him. since he also cant play drums, bass or guitar i had to record as well as play all these parts. Once they were down we got his vocals down. This repeted for the other 2 tracks and he now has them on his myspace.

If you guys wouldnt mind, check out the songs and give me opinions on recording quality (any things that might improve the sonic sound) and also the song in a creative sense.

the page is http//www.myspace.com/quiltymusic

n.b i know the vocals performances are pretty awful on both takes, but hey, i cant help the quality of singers who hire me,lol

Ok, yer right on the vocals. I kinda blocked them out. The music however was very good. Interesting intro on the first tune. I liked the electronic intro moving into a little harder sound.

The second tune moved along nicely and was a bit more rockin. Definately good stuff there.

yea, i know how bad the vocals are, tried my best to record the stuff, but cant perform miracles :D

Anything particularly jump out regarding production? This is the first full band thing i have got to do in a while as these days its mostly electronic music which is all DIed. Nice to get to do some traditional style miced recordings again.

Nothing really on first listen. If I get a bit more time I will have another listen with a bit more intent.
