Simple sound card for Guitar Rig

I've been trying to move away from Mac-based recording, because the programs I use (Pro Tools Free for OS 9) are ancient and inconvenient. I downloaded a trial of Guitar Rig 2 for Windows and played with it, and it sounded great except for one thing -- the latency. I'm certain this comes from my sound card, which came with my machine. I looked around at the various sound card options, but most of them seem like overkill -- I only need two inputs (I plan on getting a USB/Firewire device for multiple inputs later) and low-latency sound for the whole chain. Obviously, zero-latency direct monitoring wouldn't work, since I plan on overdubbing guitar tracks in real-time on top of backing tracks, and would like to hear the guitar with modeling effects. Can anyone recommend something?

The Presonus Firepod seems to be one of the more popular units. It is firewire and does allow you to listen to playback track while running direct monitering as well. That is how I record, and I have no problems at all. I do use a differant interface though which is PCI based and get neaer 0 ms of latency.
