i just both a korg micro and im trying to figure out how to connect this synth to the line6 tone port. i both some chord wires and connected it to the inputs and outputs or where ever there is a slot to put it. or do i need to buy something else for this to work and record?

also im planning to buy a korg padkontrol for drum beats. can the line6 toneport work with this also?
what do i need to buy to connect all this instruments and start recording.
i have ableton live for my recording software that comes with the line6 toneport.

well for starters welcome to HRC. To answer your question with a question, do you have the Tone Port UX1 or UX2. If you have the UX1 then you would have to hook up the 1/4" out from the Korg to the back line in's. for the pad control, off the top of my head i'd suggest that you get a MIDI interface , you can pick one up for cheap online or at your local music store, there run from around 30 USD and up.

a little side note, please don't double post,it won't get read faster . I can garentee if you post a thread it will get answered by at least one if not many of the grat comunity members.

Indeed, Geoff has it spot on.

The Korg Micro needs to have its line outputs going to the line inputs of the Line 6 Toneport. This will allow you to record the audio direct out of the Micro.

As for the padkontrol, yes you will need a midi interface to connect that as it does not have its own sounds, it uses a software synth or another drum synth module that you have conected via midi.

sorry for posting it twice sir geoff. i thot this is the wrong forum to post my q. dats y i post it again to the home rec forum. sorry again.

anyways, back to my problem.

i have a UX1 toneport. i connected the korg output to the toneport Line INs, but there is NO SOUND coming out. i tried puting the outputs in to the toneport Analog Outs (i believe this is for the speakers), no sound also, and finally; to the toneports Monitor In, now i can hear a sound but only to my left speaker coz i used the LEFT korg output only. the reason why i used only one korg output slot(LEFT) because the toneport has only ONE monitor in. there is no Monitor In LEFT/RIGHT slot.
should i buy the chord which has 2 mono and the other end is just 1 mono. is there such chord like that out there? so that i can insert the 2 mono in the outputs LEFT and RIGHT of the korg and 1 mono in the toneport monitor in.

am i even doing this right?

about the padkontrol when i disconnect the padkontrol from the PC, there will be no sound coming out at all form the pad? is there a drum pad which has built in electronic drum kits already and no need to connect to a PC for drum or synth modules? how about a drum machine? any good drum machine you can suggest? aahhhh.. im confuse on what to pick.

OK, lets fill in some blanks here shall we.

What recording software are you using? You need to set the recording software up to see the Line 6 inputs so then you can hear what ever you are running into it.

And yes, there are tons of drum machines out there that will do what you want. How much do you want to spend? That will help narrow the choices down some.

i used ableton live 4 that comes the toneport ux1 when i purchase it.

my budget for the drum machine would be around 200. but sir noize, how much is the best/easy drum machine that u suggest?

The Alesis SR-16 is within that budget I do believe.
www.zzounds.com/a--884907...amp;form=search
zZounds has it for $149.00 US and I believe if you are not in the US it should still be arounf the same comparable price at our international affiliate. Gear 4 Music. www.homerecordingconnecti....php?search=yes

This is an excleant all around drum machine. I used one for years and still use an Alesis DM-5 drum module for a lot of my drum sounds.

ive checked that in the net somewhere and they voted 2 out or 10 stars.

what about:
Boss DR670
Zoom SB 246
Zoom RT 223

i want not just an actual drum sound but also an electronica or futuristic drum kits. are this sounds in them? can you pick one for me sir.

and also, can you teach me how to set my abelton live 4 for my synth?

Of the ones you listed the Boss is probably one of the biggest sellers. But the Zoom SB 246 contains more sounds as well as some bass and synth sounds. IF I were to choose one for use here I would opt for the Zoom SB 246 myself.

Good on the Zoom unit then. Let us know how it sounds when you get it.

Yep, he is right there. :-)

Besides, I've actually been waiting for an excuse to try that Ableton Live lite 4 out anyway. So it really isnt a bother at all.

And honestly, at the moment its keeping my mind from worrying about other issues at hand.

Yep, you have the chords right going from the outputs of the Korg to the Line inputs of the UX-1. Now you need to go into the US-1 Gearbox panel and in the upper left hand corner it says Source Select. Click the arrow and select the Line Stereo option. This will allow the Line inputs to be the active inputs for the UX-1.

Now click the options in Ableton and choose the preferances line in the drop down menu. You will get a menu to pop up. The Audio tab is were you want to work in. For Driver type you will select ASIO and below that will be the Audio Device selecter. Choose ASIO Toneport UX1. Now in the mixer pane of Ableton you will see a row of 5 buttons in the lower right hand section of the upper pane. Select all 5 of the buttons to be on, they will change color when on.

Now in the actual track lets use 1 track 1 for a starter. You will see a section marked Audio From select Ext. In and just below that select 1/2. Now make sure you have the track armed to record and you whould hear the Korg sounds coming in. Ableton anly allows 4 tracks of audio to be used and I didn't really test how long of a track it allows. I think it is relatively short as it is loop based. But you should then be able to hit record and record your Korg into the audio tracks and then play them back. Dont forget to uncheck the record button before playing them back.

Na, just post em here. That way it helps everybody and is in the searchable area of the forum. Besides, there are several others here as well that can answer if I'm late or gone for a few days.

Sonar 4 is still a very usable program yes. Sonar 5 from ebay for $80.00, I wouldn't recomend it at all. It is probably a copy and wont get you any customer support at all. And probably does not have a manual either. But I am sure place like zZounds and the like will be blowing out their remaing inventory of Sonar 5 since 6 is now out and running.
