Thank you very much pjk and wyd for giving me some ideas to get started! Very helpful.

What are some reliable, and affordable online stores to buy equipment?

i'm partial to sweetwater (no offense db).

get a sales engineer, that stays with you, and you get better prices than online.

plus, you get an engineer that's a real engineer, not just a hired salesperson.

altho, must admit - have got quite a bit of stuff from ebay, with varying amounts of success

i've used them, and have had good luck. But dB (our gracious host) had problems with their sponsored links, or affiliate program, something like that.

I've had a keyboard replaced thru them without problem.

I tried to get them into a deal like what I was getting from sweetwater, and their sales guy basically laughed at me, so I'm sticking with SW.

I did MF for a while, they REALLY started pissing me off so I stopped. HRC promoted MF for a long time, but I dumped them cuz their response time and customer service sucked ***, zZounds has been a pleasure to deal with...quick repsonses as an affiliate and customer...

As they grew it seems their heads got big and they quit caring.

Too bad that none of these places will ship to Canada. Does anyone know of an equivalent to zZsounds in Canada?

I tried like crazy to find an affiliate in Canada, zZounds wants to expand there, that I know, but no love yet.

Try Gear4Music, they may, they ship loads of places. All the Canadian places I emailed never even emailed me back, I mean not ONE. Friggin lazy kanucks. :-)

Haha, they probably just haven't gotten to your e-mail yet. Too busy shovelling snow and building igloos.

I checked out Gear4Music and it doesn't say whether or not they ship to Canada. I'll drop 'em a note and find out. All prices are in pounds/euros so I will have to dig a little further to find out if there prices are competitive.

Thanks db

click thru to their site and they have US prices too...just not in their data feed. Besides, I like zZounds so I promote them over G4M...so it's worth checkin out.

hee hee,

a kid was shovelling snow for a guy, and the guy says "It's like Canada, with all the snow".

the kid says "aw, to heck with Canada. They're just a bunch of stupid hockey players and tramps up there".

The guys says "My wife's from Canada"

the kid responds "so what team does she play on?"

ba-da-boom.

Wow, I've been so preoccupied that last few days I didn't even notice.

Very nice indeed.
