I posted this on another forum, but: I think right now the world needs as much help as it can get, and I'm asking evveryone who reads this to donate a fwe minutes of their time tonight to pray or whatever they do for the victims, their familys, and the world at large... simply because I don't know what else to do to help. This is terrible.

We need to ask ourselves, what would drive people to do this... more than once... Its as if the media coverage of the events has become a "call to arms" for anyone who is very unstable in society. God help us .

Well, I'd say the cause is multi faceted. Mainly I'd say kids today are too often being raised by their friends, iPod's, MTV and video games. Kids having those things are not bad if they also have a good relationship with their parents, but, when parents leave their job of parenting to those devices and society at large, I do believe they grow up with no real sense of respect of others or self.

That, I believe is the core of the problem.

Well put, the summing effect of years of absentee parenting. Makes sense.

yep, the drag is this will be falsely blamed on "guns" by people that wanna ban them, and it's not guns, it's kids and parents...it's people. But it will add to the "gun control" battle cry this next election cycle.

True, and that sucks, I have a few and am an avid hunter, so you already know my stance on that topic.

Jeezuz, I dont know what the hell to think anymore. Do I even want to send my kids to school????

I have also heaerd there has been an increase in husbands killing wives lately as well.

And indeed, someone will post blame on something that has absolutely nothing to do with any of it. The guy killing the girl last week. Now this guy kills at least 6, to exact revenge on something that happened 20 ****** years ago. What the hell?? I highly doubt any of them were even connected with whatever happened to him twenty years ago. And then to take the pussy way out and off himself as well.

I'm friggin moving to Anarctica, maybe it'll be safe there.

the increase in domestic violence is probably related to returning soldiers... even before I got out in 2003 there was a number of spouse murders comitted by soldiers very shortly after returning from overseas. I know the ones that made a lot of media were blamed on the Malaria pills... even though usually the wife was caught having an affair... sort of like the recient warning of "a person taking a specific anti-depressant might commit suicide"... well... duh...

its better to blame evil republican supporting drug companies instead of the victim... because the victim is never responsible... ever...

...atleast then there's someone to sue...

Well zek there has been an increase in spouse abuse and death/suicides since 2001, some of it can be chalked up to troops returning 18-24 hours from the battle field. Back in the day it would take weeks or months to get home and that gave the boys time to cool down, decompress and what not. Now they're right back home with no time to adjust, plus it seems that people have less of a respect to such things like monogamy, and trust.

If I look at it like a cynic I'm set up for failure statistically speaking, I'm in the military 50% divorce rate, the job I do has a high divorce rate, I also live in California 50% divorce rate. I'm going to be silly and hope things work out :P

society on the whole has a divorce rate going on 50%, not quite but getting close, so it's not THAT much higher than us normal folks...

There's just too many people on this planet to appreciate it, or one-another . Life, and the stuff that makes it worth living, have become cheapened by the deteriorating morals of our VERY feel-good, easy-come/easy-go, image-conscious, status-driven, brother-killin', sister-eatin', disillusioned society that we have so painstakingly constructed .

Praise the Lord, and pass the amunition !... er, I mean, hail Beelzebub and pass the cocain !

C'mon ! Granted, I never seen "School Yard Shootings", as something that would convey just how far we've gone down the tube, but really... why not ? People marry for all the wrong reasons, perpetuate themselves and then take out their shortcomings on the things they've created, which in turn multiplies the effect significantly . Continue along this path far enough, and you've got whole chunks of the populous subscribing to an underlying torrent of unresaon . This is fully supported by the increase in the divorce rate .

If you don't like it, I don't blame you, and there are things you can do to protect yourself and your loved ones for their lifetimes, BUT there'll be no changing things at this point... not without a decimation of the population on a such a scale that will allow our race to grow again . We're root-bound, and we've lost the ability to trust anything... or ourselves .

Hue, I have actually read that the increase in divorce rate could be partly caused by the fact we bath more often.

Follow me on this...the more we bath, we wash away the natural pheromones that are responsible for a lot of our animal instincts including attracting a mate...

So, wanna stay married? Stop bathing. :-)

Back on topic, Minnesota had at least two school lockdowns this week due to threats of violence...

www.kare11.com/news/news_...?storyid=136041 is the latest story, can't find a link but another in St. Louis Park also happened...

smelling clean and beein' clean are two different things.....there's an old tennesse proverb down here that says, 'if it smells like fish, eat a dish. if it smells like cologne leave it alone' geez i feel like prez bush, 'fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice and i'll kill you'

That proverb's prolly older than Tennessee itself .

'Clean', and 'cologned' are quite different from eachother... cologned is kind'a like 'perfumed', which can be tactically distracting as well . I'm talkin' friggin' "clean" here, Chris... like with soap and water .

Uhm, no... no, ah-ah .

That would explain why my girlfriend on the farm liked me so much better fresh outa the field. Stinken and sweaty. I always wondered why she was always sittin so close when she would bring lunch out. I knew I smelled bad, but she musta thought otherwise.

A girls list of qualities in a man would be,no b.o.not bulging with muscles, nice car, good job,no smoker, light drinker, smart dresser and financially/mentally stable, then why do they all get it wrong?

Hi, my name is Ricky Kaiser and I am a senior at Wheat Ridge High School in Colorado. Guns, metal detectors, and police are not the first answer in these situations. My brother and I decided to do something in reaction to the recent tragedy in Colorado. We are creating a united front that will hopefully reach worldwide. WE as students need to protect our schools, ourselves, and our community. Please visit www.iluvuguys.net for details. There is tremendous strength in numbers! Please sign on today and become one of "the brotherhood".
Thank you!

I had to laugh when GWB threw together that "summit" on school safety. As if there can ever be a way to prevent some deranged whackjob from jumping out of his Jeep, running into a school and blowing kids away. But I suppose (sarcasm here), it gave the impression that something was being done about the problem. Then there's the "listen to what your kids are saying" B.S. that no one pays attention to.

Every day, I fight my embarrassment of being a homo sapiens.

Actually my very first real "research" project for school was a cultural climate survey done by my highschool psychology cleass that covered all of the scghools in the central ohio area. Basically we were supposed to present our results at the end of the simester... Initially some of the Principals were hesitant about what skeletons might pop out... by the time we were done collecting information the project was canned and we were asked to not talk about it. :)

We were pretty shocked by the results too... perticularly with substance abuse. About this time it was thought that as many as a third of highschoolers used drugs... we broke it down by class and found that as the subjective wealth of the school increased (to top end private schools) the drug use skyrocketed but alcohol consumption was practically non exestant... The local private school had a 93% drug use rate among graduating seniors... more kids smoked marijuana than cigerettes! My school had somewhere around a 30% overall use rate DURING SCHOOL...

Basically it's one of those problems administrators are too scared to touch.

Ricky Kaiser, a united front is required and everybody would help if goverment departments would spend money on important stuff like security at schools instead of wasting money on keeping themselves in a job and other crap.Every angle should be improved and perhaps the wristbands could stand for a lot of improvements including better gun laws.

In my highschool civics class (in 1990's), the teacher told us about this neo-nazi kid that was - at that time - recently caught on America's most wanted for some crimes. As the story goes, before the later development of his criminal career, he had our entire school wired with TNT which was never detinated.

Officials found explosives throughout the subfloor/utility area of the Northwest Ohio highschool I attended. It happened in the 1980's sometime and the school facilitated about 800-1000 people in those days. I guess there was a total cover-up so it never made the news. They found the stuff after he was caught by a janitor while climbing out of a large metal access plate in the D Hall floor. Thank God he was caught and unsuccessful.. some scary shite !!

What happened to the days when the worst things kids did was pee on the radiators in the lavatory or overflow a toilet. Or in my high school we got access to the undergraound ventalation system and laid out big blocks of stinky cheeze to let it send a pungent aroma throughout the school.

Those were the days. That and smoking in the boys room.

They were replaced by the days where TP'ing will get you arrested and peanut butter will get you expelled.
